Bonaly Reservoir
Good reservoir, but far better to just go further up and over the hill to glencourse. Or along to threipmuir and harlaw.Often used by teenagers for their first camping/party experience. Can't hate them too much, they'll learn to take better care/leave less rubbish as they get older.Recommend bringing a litter bag if you can, to keep the area tidy/remove some bottles or cans as you go through.

This whole area is amazing. The views of the city and beyond are incredible, especially in the evening as the sun sets in the west. Plenty of peaceful walking trails to explore and shake off your worries and stresses. If you're lucky, you'll spot a deer or two!

It's the place of beauty and natures love , I was thrilled for the trek but after completing my heart was calm and content. The place was packed with vibrancy of god. The mountain the ocean view covering the entire Edinburgh view in eyes was something I can definitely be proud of.

A VERY VERY long walk to get to the reservoir from the parking area. Lovely scenery and views of Edinburgh from the top and the reservoir offers good fishing for pike and trout. There's a small Hut that will keep you dry WHEN it rains!! The probability of rain while walking up to the top and back down are around 90% !!

So close to the city but so easy to feel you're in the countryside. There are several walks in and around the base of Bonaly, small climbs up Sanctuary Wood or White Hill; or the 'Pentland Path' and other local paths to take you further up into the Pentlands to Capelaw Hill, Glencorse Reservoir and more. Really beautiful and if you feel like taking a slow walk on an Alpaca (yes, an Alpaca), check out Bobcat Alpacas. Worth the visit!

Maybe we came on a bad day, but it wasn't as impressive in person as we expected. The ground was pretty damp all around so it wasn't easy to have a walk around it. It was a decent enough place but we've enjoyed walking around the surrounding area of the pentlands just a bit more. A great think about is that you can find a public path to pretty much any direction you'd want to walk from the reservoir.
