Barkby Beach
Beautiful beach, with plenty of sandy bits for a walk if you check the tide times. Even at high tide there is also the Promenade to walk along. Very reasonable parking charges in the winter (£1 for 4 hours) and with a name like Barkby it is also dog friendly!

Beautiful, clean beach. Fish and chip shop nearby just down the road past the Crazy Golf. Amusement arcade, cafe and playpark nearby. Ice cream van parked next to the Beaches Hotel which is great for a bite to eat and a drink. The Nova Centre is also on the beachfront in the coloured buildings which houses a swimming pool, gym and bar. Great day out for all the family

I love this beach, miles of beautiful views, great for casual stroll and taking in the sea air. We have been visiting for over 30 years and we keep coming back, it’s certainly a place that hold a special nostalgia. Photographs were taken August 2023, cloudy/windy conditions.

Great beach, not far from Chester. Its Long clean beach with a number cafés and hotel on the promenade. We visited over a very hot weekend and the beach was fairly quite which was nice. Kids loved paddling in the water.

Barkby Beach
One of my favourite beaches. Every time we visit this beach it never disappoints. There's a choice of 3 car parks and parking is free after 5. Also accessible parking at the boating club is available with a ramp onto the prom and the beach itself.Bear in mind the beach to the right of the boating club is where dogs are allowed off leads and where you will see a large number of dog owners.Quieter part of Prestatyn beach even in summer and great for an evening walk with the dog.Ample bins so take your litter with you! And plenty of rock pools to forage in. Also some cracking sunset shots to be had.

This is my fave place to walk the dog. I tend to go during the week as it's quieter. I usually use the public car park opposite Pontins as there are toilets there. Off the car park is a decent field area that's nice to walk around, particularly in the spring, and just enjoy the fresh air and the views. Once you reach the end of the field there are stairs that lead up to the dunes. From there you can access the beach although you will have to make your way over rocks to get there. If you stay up and turn right there is a boardwalk that leads to a sandy path along the dunes. It stretches for a good few miles, perfect for dogs. If you pass the first car park you go up to a second one and are pretty much right on the beach. This is the only access point without rocks, though there are steps down to the beach. You can walk along the Promenade to your left, again this stretches for miles. Along this way you will come to a cafe and other amusements which are open during holiday season. I think the cafe is open year round and serves Costa coffee. A little further on is another car park. All of the car parks are pay and display. The beaches have dog restrictions May-Oct though Barkby beach is OK for dogs year round.

Barkby Beach
I travelled from Manchester to do a spot of fishing here and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Being able to park all day for £4.50 is excellent and with the carpark being only a few metres from the beach was also very convenient.I arrived at 05:15 and was treated to a beautiful sunrise.I fished 1 hour up to high water and 3 hours after but would fish 2 hours up to high water and 2 hours after on my next visit, because the sea retreats very quickly 2 hours after high water.I only caught 2 dogfish on mackerel and lugworm but would definitely try again.Plenty of small fishing boats were launched while I was there and there was lots of dogs enjoying the open sandy beaches. All in all a very pleasant place, and to top it off, there are public toilets just behind the sailing club.
