The Garrison Hotel, Guardhouse Bar and Restaurant

Good comfortable room, but the central ceiling light is out of action. Then it turned out the parking space right next to reception is small, and even though there is potential spaces to park, the access to disabled car park means we had to go around the corner to park in the pub. Not a big deal, but in the rain and at night for a seventy-ish person...is not good. Breakfast good .

Diabolical greeting on arrival. Told we werent booked in for xmas lunch at 2pm today even though we changed the time 2 days ago and was told previously this would be a preferred time when we originally booked it for 12pm told under no uncertain terms the kitchen was shut. Eventually got sorted and we were taking into reataurant. Hadnt even sat down when 3 prawn cocktails were placed in front of us. We were then asked what wed ordered i advised the waitress if you could call her one she should know as prebooked it in nov . She says you know what ill get someone else to get your drinks ! After bout 15 mins noone came to us so i asked another member of staffif take drinks order she replied cant you go to bar im busy! . My partner went to the bar. Our main came and the waitress was so sickly cos she knew we had been treated disgustingly. The meal was lovely but can i suggest you hire trained staff with manners. It did spoil our day

I stayed for 2 weeks and the staff at reception were very polite and helpful. The Turret and Tower restaurant was fantastic. I never had a bad meal. Large portions. Nothing was too much trouble. Friendly helpful staff. I really felt like being at home.The rooms are spotless and clean towels and bedding everyday. I will definitely be staying here again.

A lovely weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary, despite 2 big events being on whilst we were there the service wasn't effected at all, the noise from the discos didnt bother us, our room was lovely, bright with a lovely comfortable super king bed.the cooked breakfast was hot, freshly made and really tasty. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. In a convenient location close to the Owls football stadium and not far from the city centre. Lovely food. A unique hotel with interesting historical value and features. As such, the rooms are limited to the protected status of the building and we found the accessible room very narrow. We had to squeeze the wheelchair between the dresser and bed to get to the bathroom.

Food and staff were fine but when you pre book meals at online prices you find that the prices at the till are higher and this has happened to us 3 times so the issue hasn't been rectified

Stayed here on our weddingnite beautiful room great nights sleep.Slightly miffed though as the reception was locked on arrival and had to go look for the receptionist.No information in the room either to tell us what time breakfast was so missed out on that too.Great place to stop would deffo go again.

Nice clean hotel, good location for dog track and casino.Helpful friendly staff.Nice bit of history to the hotel, which was interesting.Breakfast was good with a nice selection of continental and cooked.Would definitely stay here again.

I have been coming here for 18 years. I love the feel of an old Garrison, indeed the gaolhouse. It's in need of a bit of love, why are the lights always flickering in the bathrooms and the mattresses need replacing. The biggest mystery however, where have all the chairs in the bar gone? Great service from staff I now know old. Great traditional food of high quality, good beer and well located for the footie. Many of the special nights here seem great fun.
