Carlisle Tourist Information Centre

Carlisle Old Town Hall home of the Tourist Information Centre. Superb amount of local information available to take away or purchase.    A good range of gifts, from maps and books to local hand poured candles available. Friendly and helpful staff present to support your enquiries. Outside you will find a replica of the first roadside pillar box in England too. Downstairs you'll find a range of coffee shops to utilise whilst deciding where to visit next.

Really friendly and helpful staff with lots of ideas where to go next.Don't struggle up the stairs, there is a lift on the site.PS: if they tell to go to Birdoswald to get the stamp for the Hadrian's Wall Path, don't. They don't have it either.

Brilliant quaint site reminds me heavily of Culross in Fife ScotlandGives some interesting insight to Carlisle and the buildings civic pastOut side stands a recreation of a Old Queen Victoria postbox which was made in Denny Scotland ...alot of these pillar boxes were manufactured in and around the town of FalkirkThere is a real Quen Victoria post box sealed into a wall near the local Asda in Carlisle interestingly enough

It has interesting souvenirs from carlisle, some story books, walking track guides, biking track guides, some free brochures to help with visitors attractions and a very friendly and supportive staff to welcome you and guide you

I recommend a visit to this welcoming TIC whenever you're in Carlisle. No problem finding it, it's in the beautiful pink former town hall that dominates the old market square, only a couple of minutes walk from the cathedral. It's on the first floor but there's disabled access and a lift up to it. Some really interesting books about Cumbria, useful maps and guides and plenty of free info too. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. I asked for some information about Hadrian's Wall and a very helpful lady told me everything I needed to know. There's also a nice gift shop full of original gifts and souvenirs including local pottery.

Couldn't fault this tourist information centre. The pleasant lady on the desk really knew Carlisle and its history very well. Her help made a big difference to our experience of visiting the town.

Brilliant place to go and get all the information you could possibly need about carlisle and they also have the free parking disc for the disc zones

Sadly , despite wonderful staff at the Tourism Information bureau and the railway, our visit was upsetting and disappointing. A mobility scooter ran us off the pavement shouting at us that we were 'stupid' plus our campervan was subject to an attempted break in while parked in a town centre carpark in the morning. So many rough sleepers and socially challenged means that we will not return. Very very sad indeed.

We went to ask about Hadrian's wall and the lakes and we received a lot of information. The woman who talked to us was extremely nice and helpful.
