PMT Southend

(Un)Professional Music Technology.Oh dear what a shame, a once great shop in decline.I’ve been a customer of PMT for at least thirty years and have bought many guitars there over the years and it was always a welcoming friendly place of helpful staff. I just don’t get that felling there anymore.Yesterday I went into the Southend branch with £600 given to me by my sons to buy myself a guitar for my birthday. I played a couple of guitars I’ve always fancied, a Gretsch hollow body and a Fender Jazzmaster. The Gretsch was not for me but I liked the fender but the whole experience gave me the impression I was wasting their time and as I came out the guitar booth I heard them muttering negatively about me, I was also scolded for turning the amp off, It felt like I was an inconvenience to them. The whole experience was unprofessional and I just ended up thinking there’s plenty of other music shops even though PMT is literally on my door step. I barely got a grunt of a goodbye as I left the shop guitarless. It’s not the first time I’ve felt unwelcome in there, maybe I don’t fit the bill, who knows?

Dropped an Epiphone LP and a Fender acoustic off for a proper set up/re string. Great service, quicker than quoted (even cleaned the guitars!). Friendly guys. Would recommend.

Superb musical instrument store with an excellent service department.I've had an amp re-valved here and most recently had the tuning pegs on my acoustic guitar replaced too. Great quality work, good prices, and friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Charlie was really helpful and knowledgeable. Had some great recommendations - alas I left with £750 worth of guitars due to his stewardship :p

Excellent shop, really professional with tonnes of great gear. Got treated really well by Elliot who worked there, who let me demo guitar gear and then gave us a fantastic deal. Would recommend to any musician, from beginner to expert.

Always receptive to window shopping and happy to encourage trying out the instruments. Team all knowledgeable about the products or will find another team member who knows the answer if they don't. Advised of payment and finance options without the hard sell. Great range of products. We then bought products online via their website which was well laid out. Items at a good price, packaged well and arrived quickly. Will visit and buy from again.
