ArtStart Art School

This class run by Kirsten combines everything I wanted in an art class, as someone who has not really painted since Art A Level - and never used oils. The atmosphere is very relaxed (helped by some excellent background music in my humble opinion), the guidance is there where you need it but not overly critical or intrusive - Kirsten pushes her students with just the right amount of encouragement and valuable instruction. Above all, while it's totally absorbing it's also proved to be tremendous fun. I can't rate ArtStart's adult painting class highly enough for anyone who wants to paint - whether skilled or a complete novice.

My daughters have loved the after school art classes with Kirsten over the years and have enjoyed experimenting with lots of different artistic techniques. A particular favourite of mine were these birds they made. Kirsten's enthusiasm for her subject is very apparent and she clearly puts a lot of work into planning and delivering inspiring lessons.

My daughter started after school art classes with Kirsten back in September and loved it so much that she inspired me to enquire about adult classes. Both my daughter and I have rebooked courses every term since!Kirsten is amazing with the children and my daughter comes home every week with a fantastic creation which have slowly been filling up our walls.I had never used oil paints before taking up Kirsten's painting class and was nervous about using them. She has supported and encouraged my painting and taught me so much about oil paints. Her knowledge on colour never ceases to amaze me. She is a wonderful teacher and her class is the highlight of my week.

My daughter loves her ArtStart sessions with Kirsten. Every week she comes home excited and inspired carrying something beautiful and unexpected. Kirsten never seems to run out of creative and fun ideas. Having experience with many school clubs in lewes it’s easy to recommend this as one of the best!

My daughter absolutely loves attending ArtStart! The art they create during their sessions is not only fun and creative but also incredibly well thought out by Kirsten. My daughter often comes home talking about the artist that has inspired a particular session.

My 9 year old daughter has been going to ArtStart for more than 2 years now; which she loves.Kirsten at ArtStart is very enthusiastic, knowledgeable teacher who has a natural engaging connection with her students.Kirsten lessons are fun, the students are taught to produce artworks from painting, modelling to sculpture often influenced by prominent artists.Through ArtStart, my daughter's interest and skills in art has grown tenfold and I would thoroughly recommend ArtStart for any budding young artist.

My daughter Coco has been doing Kirsten’s art classes for 4 years and absolutely loves them! Kirsten is an inspirational teacher who not only teaches the practical side of art but the background and history of art and artists too. Her classes are really fun and relaxed and Coco is always so excited about the work they produce.
