South Lodge

Wonderful two night stay. We had a Smart Room. On the website these are advertised with modern styling but the one we got was “traditional”. Not really to my taste although quite fun, if I came again I’d request a modern room.The spa is stunning and the reason to visit. Beautiful indoor pool, a cool and refreshing outdoor pond and a great hot tub to lounge in but the highlight for me was a beautiful and very well featured gym. Everything you’d need for a proper workout with dumbbells up to 40kg. If a good gym is important to you then look no further.Dinner at Camellia was very good, as was our Afternoon Tea. I’d recommend both. The Pass, the Michelin starred restaurant, does a pricey tasting menu but nothing special and not a particularly nice space either. I wouldn’t bother with that again.Lovely grounds and great service. Would love to come back.

Having just spent a wonderful couple of days at South Lodge Hotel and Spa, we just wanted to share our gratitude for the amazing service we received throughout our stay.From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and special. We enjoyed a superb lunch on Sunday in The Camelia Restaurant with our friends celebrating my birthday. A very special thank you to the chef who made my fantastic birthday cake!The receptionist who showed us to our room and who looked after us was just lovely and I am sorry we didn't get her name but she was at the first desk as you enter the hotel - thank you to her. We also spent a very enjoyable evening chatting with Cedric in the bar - what an amazing ambassador to South Lodge he is too.Thank you to all of the staff who made our stay so enjoyable, we will definitely be back soon.

From arrival to leaving it was truly an unforgettable experience. Amazing room and so much thoughtfulness. Very clean and welcoming with special touches. A very warm welcome in arrival and nothing too much trouble . I stayed with my dog and it was dog heaven ! A bed, toy and treats for him and every thought to my needs and his . Breakfast was served beautifully and the food excellent . The spa was so relaxing and a warm welcome there too. Wonderful walks for dogs . The staff, including cleaners, reception , waiting staff and all involved , made my stay and my dogs, a truly unforgettable experience .

We had a wonderful stay for my birthday, we were greeted by Chiara and Luke who were very friendly and professional. We did have a couple of requests and these seemed to be no hassle at all. The room we had was beautiful, clean and spacious. The grounds are very well kept and very tranquil. The spa was amazing with lots of towels, robes and places to sit inside or outside. Would 100% recommend and can’t wait to return.

Had afternoon tea here(Christmas present voucher bought by our children) . Absolutely smashing. Huge range of various teas. You may try as many teas as you wish. You may also have a 'top up' of anything offered on the afternoon tea menu. The dinning area was comfortable and absolutely lovely.Being almost experts regarding the afternoon tea experience, my husband and l certainly rate this as one of the best we have enjoyed.

Fantastic stay, very quiet & relaxing. Treatments were excellent, service was attentive and the food both in botanica and in the camellia for breakfast was delicious! Thank you to everyone for making it so special. I look forward to returning for lunch and a drink on boxing day!

My daughter and I had a blissful day at the spa. We enjoyed the outdoor swimming lake and basked on the sun terrace in November! Yoga, lunch and treatments were wonderful and we left refreshed and relaxed. We’ll be back.

Wow, what a wonderful long weekend at this stunning place.Our room was beautifully designed, spacious, great facilities. The proper coffee machine a very nice touch. A spotless bathroom with the best shower!We eat in Camellia and Botanica and both restaurants the food was delicious. The service just perfect.We used the gym, the amazing indoor infinity pool, and the outdoor pools. The spa area is awesome, steam, aromatic, sauna areas. The bucket shower was great fun. And very nice shower and changing facilities. Kept spotlessly clean and topped up with everything you need.The team of people working at this place are fabulous. From the moment you enter, to the bars and restaurants, the spa.Being Dec the hotel was decorated so beautifully for Christmas. There's ample parking and plenty of EV charging.I didn't want to leave, and we will definitely be returning. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Our first stay at the hotel and it was fantastic.The spa is lovely and the hotel itself is beautiful and extremely well kept. Sometimes country manor hotels can get a bit tired but obviously a lot of care is put into keeping this hotel amazing.I’ve marked service down as the bar service was really quite bad. We went in for lunch and waited ages to get a menu. Ordered drinks and a jug of water and no glasses brought, didn’t clear plates when finished. Had to call back for condiments etc.The service other than that was fantastic.Camelia restaurant is lovely and the staff were great in there, the food was great.The spa was very busy when there and a lot of beds reserved, we managed to get one of the last 2 chairs. Not sure what can be done about this. If all hotel guests can use the spa then that’s how it is but would be disappointed if we couldn’t get a bed at all.The grounds are lovely and views at breakfast great too. We will definitely return.
