Please please please do not allow your family to be put into this care home. It looks fine when you visit but you would be shocked if you saw what goes on when there's no visitors.Untrained staff are made to use the medical equipment because all the trained staff have left or been sacked. The management stinks and doesn't care about the residents.

My partner was sent there from Manchester royal infirmaryFor rehabilitation…He only last 6 daysThe manager holly was not very helpfulWas rude and not very helpful the staff didn’t know if they was coming or goingHe was put in the tv room where he had a fall in which an ambulance was calledAnd the manager was right on the phone to the Occupatianal health at the M.R.IBut lucky for my partner he was taken to wythenshaw hospital who discharged him back home who as made a full recovery n does not need 24 hr care as Brocklehurst could meet his care demands I…I’m my honest opinion I would not send any relative to this nursing home

Our very independent aunt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but managed to live at home with our support. After going into hospital after a fall, she eventually came home with family support and carers four times a day, but fell downstairs breaking her neck. After surviving this and spending some time in hospital, she needed 24 hour care.We looked at several nursing homes and were really disappointed, although the care they gave seemed to be really good, we didn't feel at home in them.We were looking for somewhere where we would be happy to live.On our visit to Brocklehurst, we found the home really clean, the staff were very welcoming and it felt comfortable. After looking at the CQC Report and also seeing how staff interacted with residents, and how at home resident’s family visitors seemed to be, we decided this was the right nursing home for our aunt and for us.We weren't disappointed. We were always made welcome when visiting, kept informed of any concerns the staff may have had and of anything our aunt needed, and we were always involved in her care plan. We knew the staff spent time with our aunt because they used to tell us about some of the conversations they had with her, they knew quite a lot about our family after she had been there a few months. Our aunt was really happy at Brocklehurst, she trusted and loved the staff. We could not have given her all the attention and care that she received from the staff if she had been living at home.Every day our aunt was able to talk to other residents, take part in activities, make her own decisions and enjoy life, until the dementia took that away. She would always say how lovely the people who looked after her were. When our aunt needed more care, she was cared for by the most caring people we could have wished for.Sadly she contracted pneumonia and passed away peacefully with family with her.We can't thank Hollie, the manager and her staff enough for the care and compassion they showed our aunt, and our whole family. They were really upset when she passed away.A lasting memory for all the family, of Brocklehurst Nursing Home and of the love and care they gave to our aunt, was of the staff lining the road outside the nursing home when our aunt's funeral cortege passed the home. So sad but so reassuring we made the right decision. We can’t thank you enough.Anthony Robinson, Susan Robinson, Margaret Graham18.3.21
