Wakes Hall Lodges

This place is simply brilliant. The lodges are great and really well equipped. The welcome hamper was a really lovely touch and was really well provisioned.The hot tub was well maintained and also located to the side of the property out of the wind. Its secluded and not overlooked by other lodges.The property feels very luxurious and comfortable and the little touches really make it as it goes the extra mile (things like white company toiletries and the Bluetooth speaker provided).We stayed with our five year old and she loved the outdoors and being able to run around.There is a pub in the village which is about a 20 minute walk from the lodges (this is down a main road but it has a pavement all the way).Currently they are doing building work at the front of the site but do not let put you off as you cannot see or hear it from the lodges at all and other than driving past it you wouldn't know it was happening.5 stars all the way.

Really nice place for a relaxing stay, lodges are very spacious with huge ceilings. Great for dog walks with a country walk 5 min drive down the road behind the Swan pub. Dishwasher tablets, bing bags washing up liquid etc are provided too which is helpful.

Such a wonderful, peaceful, tranquil place to switch off for a week. Lodges are in top condition, lovely kept grounds and a nice welcome basket. We'll be back xx

We had an amazing time on our belated honeymoon/1st wedding anniversary at the lodges , we could not be more grateful we was able to rearrange our stay!Luxury , well equipped accommodation with spectacular scenery. We’d have liked to catch bigger fish but we think the heat was too much for them!The lodge is situated 20 mins from the zoo, 40 mins from the coast and 20 mins from Colchester town centre , so perfectly placed for day trips out. There’s some lovey pubs/restaurants in the neighbouring villages too.Equally for days/nights spent in, the lodges are private from one another and the rest of the world and the hot tub is a fab asset although , it was a little hot during our stay to appreciate it fully !

Daily unannounced visits to check the hot tub, not always within the times given, which having a nervous dog with us made this a nightmare. Gardeners around properties all day cutting bushes, grass cutting, so very little privacy or relation. Main issue was infestation of flies. This was on another level. It was too hot to have doors and windows shut which we had to most of the time, even then there were flies appearing from nowhere inside. Most of out time was spent killing flies. I have stayed in these sort if lidges before, near stables and never experienced flies like it. Having a wasp nest in the eaves treated as well.We arrived on a Saturday for 7 nights and left after 5 nights as we couldn't bare it any longer. Complaint has been made and I am waiting their investigation. Will never go back. I don't normally read reviews and did so after our experience and it would appear this is a common theme with flies which clearly has not been addressed. Not the place to go for privacy, relaxation or hygiene with the flies.

These lodges are amazing. We stayed at Campion Lodge, but I believe they are all similar. We hadn't been here before, and when we unlocked and walked in... we were jaw-dropped in awe at the light, the space, the high spec kitchen, as well as the generous hamper. It was well-equipped, and the attention to detail made a lot of difference. The views and the hot tub were just what we needed in the oh-so quietness. Highly recommended!

Really lovely place - beautiful scenery, very spacious, bedrooms lovely and beds comfortable.Kitchen items dirty, needed to wash most things before using, not many plug sockets.

Wakes hall lodges is the most amazing place to stay,for a relaxing retreat, the only thing a dislike about the place is its always fully booked and I would like to book more often

Beautiful lodge with everything you may need. It's quiet and clean and just perfect. We have visited 3 times and each time have been delighted. It's a bit of a hideaway which is perfect for exploring the surrounding lake and environment. The dogs came with us (as usual) and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Lovely touches of fresh flowers, wine, fruit juice, milk and some exceptional biscuits. Thankyou!

Stunning accommodation, our second trip and won't be our last. The perfect location to just switch off and relax. This visit we stayed in Endymion Lodge, perfect for our family of 4 plus dog.The lodge was spotless, presented to a very high standard. We received a welcome hamper on arrival with extra items stocked in the fridge, 5 Star service.We were lucky with the weather over the weekend and got to enjoy the hot tub twice on our weekend away. Perfect temperature, clean and well maintained.We left a night early due to the overnight weather warnings of snow, so didn't get to stay the whole 3 nights but the 2 we did stay were wonderful.Wakes Hall holds a special place in our families hearts, we hope to return again and again.
