So I Had to visit this hotel due to work in the area, let me just say it was perfection from the moment I walked into the building, the building itself holds history and this can be seen from the inside and out beautifully stone exterior and heavenly staircase appon entering the building I was then greeted by an extremely nice member of the team (can't remember his name at this time but he was extremely nice and helpful.) he explained everything in perfect detail ensure I understood where my room and restaurant was located.I made my way down the hallway and up the stairs to my room. on entering the room I was extremely happy with how clean the room was the bath was amazing as well (after recently staying in a hotel that made me want to shower after having a shower) I was happy I couldn't hear any noise from outside the building or inside and was impressed to find the bed soft and extremely comfortable.I will be staying again here when visiting the area.I will update you with breakfast in the morning.Update for breakfastAmazing got in at 7 and was approached at my table. Orange juice, Apple juice And the continental breakfast was all out on display when entering the room, the member of staff asked for my room number and then took my order full breakfast with fried egg. came out in a nice time and was extremely appreciated by myself as I had to be gone pretty soon to attend the customer site. the food was amazing and was impressed with the size. This place is going on my list of places to return to when staying around Derby!!

Frequently stay here but considering moving elsewhere. Wifi is almost non existent in some rooms. Rooms comfortable enough but at times not fully cleaned or drinks/toiletteries restocked.. basics like hairdryer usually missing and only heat via portable heaters.Every room needs few minor repairs and some need the floors completely revarnished. The hotel has potential to be amazing but the owner will not invest and this will lead to losing more customers and eventually closing. The poor condition of many rooms means I don't recommend to colleagues. Some have stayed once and won't come back.Location is great for Central Derby, nice restaurants and nearby park.Hotel staff are amazing and super friendly and helpful. They are some of nicest staff I've met and will always help with request or any query and welcome me every time I stay over.. they are trying to keep hotel open while owner will not invest in very basic maintenance and replacement of items.

Location is great, right in the centre but just of the main streets, so its a quiet street as it was really lively at the weekend in the city centre. 5 minute walk and your on the main streets. Room was more than adequate, bed was comfy and clean, furniture is a bit dated but done it's job and the bathroom was really clean and somewhat modern. Service was great, really nice and helpful. Secure car park at the bottom of the road or depending when you arrive and leave, on street parking is free between certain hours at night until the morning.

Sad to see such a decline.I recently stayed here with my wife and friends to celebrate a milestone anniversary since starting uni at Derby. While I was a student I worked in this hotel - I was there when it hosted the Queen for Mundy Thursday. At that time it was a stand out hotel, with a fantastic restaurant and chef, a sommelier, and an amazing cocktail bar.The standards were always high and I always wanted to come back and stay as a guest to experience it from the other side. However, we were first greeted by a completely empty lobby and another guest rather irritated that no one there. There were people in the bar, but no bar man. After about 15 minutes someone appeared from upstairs and hastily checked us in.The room was dusty, the mattress collapsed, and the jacuzzi bath had a broken plug and screw sticking out of the side.Breakfast was a sad affair. A beautiful room with zero atmosphere, and a tiny buffet table with a tragic spread. The coffee was full of grounds and a request for soya milk was met with No.".A further request for menus was met with "We don't have breakfast menus. You can have a hot breakfast or porridge". One of our guests breakfast was forgotton

Afternoon Tea for Two - Was Perfect, Until It Wasn’tI’ll start off with the positives as the young males who greeted us in reception and took us to our table were very helpful and lovely. The place has beautiful architecture interior and the afternoon tea itself was lovely however, the last 10 minutes our experience was ruined by Jackie. We arrived 15 minutes late for which we tried to contact the hotel and was unable to get through but explained to the man on reception and apologised, he was understanding and relaxed. Arriving at our table we was notified we only had 60 minutes and clarified if that meant from when we arrived or from when we was meant to arrive (as we were late) and was confirmed from our arrival for which we was grateful for as they could have taken it from our time. They young men were very pleasant and cannot thank them enough. In the final 10 minutes, we had been waiting 20 minutes for somebody to appear to ask for milk (for the coffee) - we understand they have jobs to do which is why we waited instead of interrupting, as I returned from the toilet I asked the woman for milk for the coffee for which I was none stop verbally abused, came into my face pointing her finger, got aggressive (telling me this is her calm) and very unprofessional (for which I’m hoping there is cctv in there to support this) in front of my brother who had been here several times and had also told her she is being very rude for which she said “no, it’s only you” she has the problem with (for asking for milk for my coffee) which I then asked is she discriminating, unsure if it’s a racial issue either as I only asked for milk. I could not believe the behaviour the women was displaying as a business owner myself I would be mortified having somebody represent my company as she did, I asked her name and she was reluctant and refusing. I went to the young man to ask for a manager for who she also tried to intimidate and tell him go away “because they need to go”, I told him not to be intimidated and to disclose her name for which he told me Jackie and provided the email to take a complaint higher as he was also a witness to her rudeness and behaviour and was very apologetic on her behalf. I genuinely felt sorry for him as he was lovely and stuck in the middle of a customer who has experience his and a manipulating mentally ill woman. The verbal abuse was still being hurled therefore I decided to record the ordeal (this continued until the second we left) evidence to send to the hotel to showing them the customer service they’re providing and having representing their brand, she then changed he energy as she suddenly became aware I was videoing (although you can see she is still being rude on the video but it had been massively toned down and she was no longer getting in my face). Fortunately the whole start to to finish of this ordeal was witnessed by somebody and part of it by the young man I tried to complain to.This is my first and last time and my brother who has been here several times will never return again. It’s clear Jackie has mental health issues from the behaviour displayed, I have never in my whole life had a waitress come into my face pointing her finger getting aggressive because I asked for milk.A few shots from the video you can see from the facial expressions she’s oozing negativity, coming into my personal space and pointing her finger. This was my first time being here, don’t risk yours being verbally abused either. Put your money where the staff are competently trained and have emotional and mental stability to carry out their jobs.

We visited here for Prosecco Afternoon Tea, a gift from friends. The dining room was lovely and large, although a little background music may have helped as there was only two couples dining (including us) and it was easy to hear conversations. The afternoon tea was nice, the egg sandwich was our favourite. The staff were very friendly and polite. There were no options to choose from or information menu provided detailing what was being served. As it happened we liked everything served.Lovely hour, thank you.

Beautiful spacious old building but in lovely condition, a lift to all floors. Really central location to the cathedral and Art Gallery, Silk museum etc. Warm welcome. Not much choice at breakfast but my poached eggs were very good. A couple of steps at the front, otherwise access is good.

Awful place to stay and needs a complete refurb. My curtains did not close on one side because the top part was broke which was very uncomfortable being on the ground floor facing a car park. The sheets were filthy, towels weren’t clean, walls falling to bits and mould covered up by paint. Very outdated and needs an update. My tv was not working so I went to reception to get a remote as I didn’t have one and then the remote did not work either and the aircon I’m the room was broke.

The room was pleasant and comfortable, but only 1 towel available. We went down for breakfast at 9.30. There were no glasses for juice, no cups for coffee. The table wasn't laid and we weren't greeted by anyone. I asked for a coffee cup and I was handed a wet cup with no saucer and no spoon. We got our cereal and had to take spoons off nearby tables, which hadn't been used. I used a tea spoon off somebody's cup, that had left. There was nobody in attendance, or they flew past with plates of cooked breakfast and didn't look in our direction. We sat for approx 30 minutes, waiting for someone to take our breakfast order. I decided to go downstairs to reception and ask for some help. The lady who took our order said there was little left. I asked for well done poached eggs and they were runny. We did eventually get a cafetiere of coffee with a cup, saucer and tea spoon. The coffee was very nice, as was the cooked breakfast. The 2 young men serving were pleasant, but clueless with regards to customer service. My husband is dairy intolerant. There was no alternative milk or spread, which is standard in a Premier Inn. Lots of people are vegans now, so the hotel has to reflect that in choice. We chose this hotel due to proximity to st Werburgh's church, following our wedding. We also wanted something a bit up from a Premier Inn, which should've been in place, but wasn't. In conclusion, I would not recommend this hotel to visiting friends or relatives, despite the location and opulence. Chic lighting does not make up for appalling service
