Stayed here whilst attending Whitby Goth weekend, ideally situated near the train station to take you in and out of Whitby.Beautiful friendly country pub serving fresh food cooked to order. The en-suite rooms were perfect.Would highly recommend and will definitely return!

Lovely village pub. The owners are so friendly and mice and make you feel welcome. So glad they came back to run it again! I always like to stop here when I visit the area. Lovely location next to the river watching the ducks. Highly recommended

What a fabulous pub in a beautiful setting. The food was excellent, we turned up on burger night which on there own would have been the best part. However, the chips were amazing old school chip shop style crispy outside with a soft juicy centre the chips alone are worth the journey

I stayed here for two nights, I specifically chose this place as I like to mix with locals, get involved and chat, this is the place for that, really enjoyed it all.I had the pizza on Saturday night and it was really light and crispy just how I wanted it. The breakfasts are great aswell, they hand puck the produce from local butchers you can tell. Liam was great and cooked everything as I asked him too

We were recommended this establishment from friends who used to stay regularly, pre covid, but it appears to have since changed hands.A good pint of Timothy Taylor's. The bar service wasn't the most engaging but the wonderful locals made up for it.Saturday night menu was limited to seven choices of burgers, which were good. Sharon who sorted our dinner and breakfast was the saviour, a wonderful lady who was most hospitable and is 5*.The room was tiny and very warm, we later discovered the fridge in the cupboard which was the culprit for the constant whirring and some of the heat.The TV is small and the picture a terrible colour.We slept a total of 40 minutes the first night and had to cancel the following two nights that we had booked. The bed was like trying to sleep on top of a jelly, on investigation we discovered a piece of very thick foam strapped to the top of the old mattress!

Wonderful stop.Lovely village, well positioned, great staff and the vegetable soup and crusty beef roll were a delightPrice was very good and the soup dish very generous a, carrot cake ordered as shared portion because it looked so good , and it was !!!!!Would revisit anytime.
