TL;DR Visited Specsavers, Cambridge; faced indifference over a mere +0.25 diopter change, left feeling unvalued and dismissed. Specsavers only cares about money, not about customer.I've been donning prescription glasses for 25 years, so I'm well-acquainted with my prescription needs. However, my recent visit to Specsavers, Cambridge left me both frustrated and disappointed.I was there for a straightforward eye revision, hoping to get photocromic prescription lenses identical to my current prescription. Post-examination, optometrist Irtar Kha suggested a prescription that was different from my long-standing one. What surprised me was that the discrepancy was a mere +0.25 diopters, but for someone with estrabism like me, even this small deviation can lead to issues like double vision.I conveyed my concerns and the importance of maintaining my tried and tested prescription. However, instead of understanding and accommodating my request, I was met with a firm denial. While I respect professional judgments, outrightly dismissing a client's long-standing prescription, especially for a difference of just +0.25 diopters, feels like a sheer oversight and indifference to a patient's insights.I ended up wasting my time and walking out feeling unvalued. It's unsettling to experience such lapses in customer service from a well-regarded establishment like Specsavers. If you're someone with a stable prescription, I'd advise caution and double-checking any changes they propose, no matter how minor they seem.

I cannot recommend this place at all.I booked an appointment online filled the form that asks you why you'd like to book an eye appt. Then the annoying calls and messages started !I got text almost every day telling me I have an appt, and to cancel it if I don't need it anymore. Like why would I book it if I dont need it?! Then a day before the appt 2 different people called me in a space of literally 2 minutes and ask me why I want an eye appt I'm not due one until 2024 (it's Sept 2023 )Why did I fill the form? Do you not want me to come ? Then why offer online appointments and forms ?!Horrible people. I hope my eye problmem which they found in the first place doesn't get worse before 2024 !!

I had to change opticians when the Virus was about to a nearer one in my village. It was terrible and the coloured plating came off the glasses I chose within 1 year of wearing them. This year I returned to Specsavers where I used to always go . And the customer service in there was so good. I felt relaxed and able to choose the glasses I wanted without any pressure being put onto me at all to pay for extra tinting , or non scratch lenses. Because unlike the other place Specsavers do all this for free. I chose the glasses I wanted . And because it said buy one pair and get another pair free. I automatically thought the free pair had to be cheaper than the pair I was buying. I chose a wide metal frame for my distance glasses as I knew my lenses are always thick and stick out alot. And I chose a cheap pair with thin metal for my close up glasses. When I sat at the table with the specsavers manager to be measured etc. For the right size glasses he said to me Why haven't you chosen your free pair for the same price as the ones you are paying for. " And my reply was I thought they had to be cheaper to get them free . He said no. I said to him I would have liked my free pair to have thick metal around them like my distance glasses really

Was told my eyes were very good, considering my age. But the specialist said they could be even better. I was sceptical, but thought that would be amazing. So ordered two pairs of glasses. But, as I thought, the long distant glasses could not see as far as my own eyes could see, without making things blurry. To be fair, the pair they give me for the close up reading were ok, but I’d already bought some reading glasses from Poundland that were already adequate.

optician who treated my eyes was very informative and I felt guilty confident. only negative it seems Specsavers in hearing & optician are not told to introduce themselves so I do not know who my optician was. it is not up to the client to ask still give 5* for good service

The staff seemed little overwhelmed at times, nevertheless they all seemed very professional. The eye test itself was fairly quick, in and out more less in 30-35min., just depending on what you are going in for. The eye test itself is £25 (+£10 if you want OCT as well) or free if you qualify.Only thing was, that the frames/glasses (on display for you to try on) needed little wiping down.Overall, attentive and professional staff, so positive experience.

Last year got my eye test and got 2 pairs of glasses and then was offered contact lenses (was told for the 60 lenses I chose that they would arrive every 60 days) to which they done for me too. A few months later after getting use to the glasses and the contact lenses I had another contact lens check up and they changed one of the strengths of the lenses but was told I cannot get the glasses changed to match the lenses strength. Forward to this year and booked for the end of July to have an eye test and a contact lens check… haven’t had any contact lenses show up and it’s over 60 days. Rang them and got directed to a call centre and was told that what I was told isn’t right and that they are delivered every 3 months and not 60 days. Then the lovely call centre guy tried to call and couldn’t so left a note. So I’m now with no contact lenses, wearing weaker glasses and may have to wait for either a call back which I doubt I will get or until my appointment at the end of July. Fuming is beyond what I am! Now thinking maybe I should just cancel and go to a different place that won’t lie to me and mess my about and that can answer their phones!Still waiting for last week when I called to book my appointments that I would get a call back… now a week later and ended up with here I am now. Appalling service!

It's a shame, there are some lovely staff. However, I was told my astigmatism had gotten severely worse and strongly advised to buy new glasses. The glasses didn't seem right, so they retested, turns out my astigmatism had actually gotten better, and very similar to my old prescription, meaning I bought new glasses at £140+ for no reason.Secondly I was advised to deal with a corneal abrasion in a way that doesn't really seem to be working several weeks in.A bit pot luck who you get, but I'd say 100% of staff make you feel welcome, 90% of actual opticians there are brilliant, 10% have a way to go.

Was 100% satisfied with the in-store experience and the glasses but very disappointed with the after-sales service, Two days after picking up my glasses I received an email inviting me to ask any questions. I did have one and responded by email but got no reply.Oddly this experience mirrors exactly an earlier one with the audiology department. I don't think Specsavers can monitor email responses to their 'are you satisfied' emails ! I guess any question needs to be posed by telephone.(Too late now -sorted elsewhere.)
