The Bear Hotel
Location is nice and the hotel in general is pretty with lots of nice flowers. We ate in the glass eating area to the rear which im told is only available in summer. Resturaunt is a bit tired and needs a clean. Menus dirty and silverware unpolished, glasses with lipstick stains.Food was nice but a bit over priced for what you get. no real kids options. The coffees were served cold and waiters trying to clear the table before we were all finished. They did make an effort to make up fruit bowls for our diabetic guests when requested.Waitress had scruffy appearance with some sort of scarf tie in hair amongst unkept hair. With a bit more love and attention the resturaunt could be much better.

Nice location. Nice enough hotel, fairly budget. Rooms horrendous and overpriced.Bed was uncomfortable. Bright lights from outside shining into room all night. Wedding party music blaring. Bathroom probably up there with worst I've stayed in. £170 is a strong price for that experience. Breakfast over the road was nice.Wouldn't stay again. Cowbridge itself is a nice pleasant place to visit.

Another real find, looks such a quaint place as indeed the front rooms are. Right on the street but goes back a long way with a car park accessible from the rear. There is a very modern pod to the rear with sliding windows for the hot days. Great venue for wedding reception it seems.Didn't try the food, but it looked OK.We were in one of the old rooms - large with comfortable beds a bath and shower. Nice welcome tray with Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, water etc.Excellent breakfast was across the road in a coffee bar.

Great Hotel for food. We dined here with a group of 20 and had a great time. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were greatPrices are reasonable for the areaThere's great choice on the menu if which I chose the rolled belly pork. The meal was very good and the only downside was the lack of greens or any veg on the plate. I think it would have broken up the richness of the belly pork and mash. The only second gripe was my pint of doombar wasn't extantly cold. A bit warm for my liking.Overall lovely place and I would eat there again.

Very nice hotel. Went for Sunday lunch and the food was sensational to say the least. Amazing helpful staff made the whole experience perfect. I will definitely be returning

The Bear Hotel
Awful, awful, awful. Whilst waiting for our table we found 2 empty tins of cat food under the sofa in the bar , pointed this out to a member of staff who removed them but seemed non plussed !!!, food v poor , meat tough , pudding tasteless, overpriced, service dreadful. Just wish i had read all the terrible reviews prior to booking, avoid this hotel to eat at all costs, don't know how they stay in business.

Lovely location in a medium sized busy town. Staff friendly and good menu choices, see their website. Or meals were as described and exceeded expectations.

The Bear Hotel
Stayed at the Bear Hotel for a night in August. The room was decent - the 4 poster bed added a touch of class to the room. Soundproofing was OK - in spite of a wedding at the back of the hotel and our room facing the street, we got a decent night's sleep. The breakfast (served across the road) was good. However, the WiFi was unusable. As a wedding venue, it clearly ticks all the boxes. But as a hotel, it does the bear" minimum."
