Lake District Gyroplanes

Took part in this experience last week with my wife and father in law. We all had an amazing time. Roger was friendly and funny, extremely knowledgeable and made the whole experience something to never be forgotten.

A really fabulous experience. Roger was very patient and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the controls.

What a great day... Roger was obviously very experienced and was an excellent tutor. We felt very safe in his hands. The Lake District looked stunning from height and the time just flew by. Must do this again!

Dad had an hours flight with Roger as a 80th birthday present.Roger explained about the aircraft before the flight and how they fly etc, Dad had a wonderful experience hope to be back in the future.

Mark had a fantastic time on his 1 hour experience. Would recommend to everyone as a special treat while away in the Lake District. Fantastic communication prior to booking and Roger is so passionate about what he does.

Honestly one of the rudest and most arrogant people I have met. It was disgusting the way he treated me and my partner. I would not feel safe flying with Roger. His confrontational and hostile behaviour makes me question his sanity.My experience:I called to see if he could fit me in for a 30 min flight experience. He said yes and told me to head straight over to Berrier air field. I called him when we got to the postcode he gave me and said I think I’m here but I can’t see any signs of an airfield. He replied in an angry tone saying “what do you mean you think you’re here, where are you?” I said I was at the postcode he gave me. He then told me to open a brown gate past a red letterbox and park next to the car. It turns out the “airfield” he was referring to is part of his land past his house. But there is no signage anywhere. Anyway once we parked up I could see Roger coming down towards the shed where the gyrocopter is held so I walked towards him. The first thing he did was point at my partner and said Shut the gate. I glossed over this and was very excited but also quite nervous about the whole thing, especially after having seen that we would be taking off from a field in his house. After i introduced myself and made some small talk I said to him in a friendly way “this is safe right ?” Expecting some kind of re assurance but instead he looked me straight in the eyes and said in an aggressive tone “that’s a stupid question “. I was quite taken back because I had been nothing but friendly and keen, despite the fact that I was nervous and glossing over the fact that he had been very rude up until that point. He then started to explain how the gyrocopter worked, which would have been nice if he didn’t sound so angry and condescending. I nodded along and as soon as I took my eyes off him he says “are you listening ?” I said yes. He then said I don’t think you want to fly. I said yes I do I’ve driven over an hour to get here. Once he’d finished explaining I said ok cool sounds good. He then looks at me and says you’re not ready to fly I don’t want to fly you today. I was quite shocked by this. I said look I’m just a bit nervous so naturally I had some questions and just wanted some reassurance but I do want to fly. He said “yes you’ve said that 3 times already but you need to convince me”. I replied saying “I don’t really know what to say to be honest “. He then said well I’m definitely not flying you today but have a proper think about it and get back to me tomorrow, the sooner the better. I said ok no problem and left. Needless to say I did not come back.I then spoke to Chris Jones gyrocopters which seemed a lot more professional and friendly but unfortunately they were fully booked for the next 2 weeks…. What a shame.

Absolutely loved it! Roger is passionate about flying gyrocopters. He explains the experience fully beforehand to ensure confidence and will answer any questions before, during or post flight. He is so knowledgeable about the area and shares this. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Can't wait to repeat it!

Excellent experience, highly recommend.If you buy a voucher do not leave it for long, as the experience is weather dependent - I almost missed out because of this (my fault for leaving the voucher for five months). Otherwise a great time flying, Roger is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about flying.

Very odd experience. Called to book on the day like he asked a week before, on the phone asked roger to send address via text message, he didn’t. My friend then called few hours later to which he was annoyed and said he has sent it which he hadnt. Was quite rude huffed and puffed and then hung up the phone. When asking if we could come early afternoon as we had a morning activity booked, was rude and said well if the space is still available, roger never gave us a space to attend. called my brother an idiot when he laughed about not knowing his weight. so yeah a shame as we tried to book this weeks ago. very odd behaviour
