Very disappointing, will not be back, would not recommend. Had to ask for cutlery, no-one asked if everything was ok, no-one asked did we want a desert or tea and coffee. My friend didn't want the bbq dip that came with the meal and asked to change it to another sauce. The girl made such a big deal about it and charged her for the difference sauce. It was as if the staff couldn't wait to get us out. The girl made a big deal when we all wanted to pay separately. She didn't have a clue. Had to go find a calculator to work out what change to give. Not a great overall.

We were the only people in there after 9.30 pm apart from a couple of old men. They turned a few groups away while we were there. They closed the shutters on us even though they do not close until 11pm. I understand they don't want to keep the bar open for not many people but we were still paying customers, and they had turned away paying customers. Rude service, will not be back.

Really good fish dishes for me as a non meat eater. Sea bass and prawn risotto which chef tweaked for me. Beautifully cooked. Great portion size and reasonably priced.Yes Waiter service super friendly. Nice atmosphere.

Saturday night. Last minute decision to go out. No problem getting a table. A little noisy as football team in, after their match. Felt their choice on menu had downsized a bit, but still served tasty food - Starters Prawn cocktail and Breaded Brie followed by mains - Peppered Chicken Stack on mash , Steak Sandwich/ pepper sauce on Ciabatta with Skinny Chips. White wine choice.Staff friendly and attentive.

This is great place to have a romantic dinner for 2 or a family dinner. It is a good bar to catch up with friends and have a nice night out. When you walk into The Poet you don't feel out of place or people are looking at you the way you feel sometimes in other bars. Staff are really friendly.
