Guy Fawkes Inn

Hotel and rooms very historic, floors have a lean to them. Very quirky. Is a pub downstairs and as lead up to Christmas was really busy, but can't hear any noise in the room from the pub. Room is lovely and warm. Will try the breakfast tomorrow.

We stayed in one of the four poster bed rooms. Spotless, beautiful and cosy with excellent view of the York minster. We arrived too early to book into room but allowed our luggage to be left which was in our room when we arrived back. Asian looking girl was most helpful to us in this matter (didnt think to catch her name) and on the whole staff were great and friendlyHad the famous steak pie for my dinner and partner had sausages and mash. both meals excellent. Must book your table as next night we couldnt get one to repeat the eating experience. which was very disappointing for us...as we didnt get to try fish and chips....if in York again would definately come back to eat in restuarant for the steak pie...loved our stay thank you

Absolutely loved our stay here for our anniversary. The room was beautiful and had lots of lovely little quirks. We had dinner in the restaurant which was amazing, the service was fantastic and the whole team were brilliant. The location is perfect with amazing views of York minster which is right on the doorstep. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be staying again in the future

The Guy Fawkes Inn in York is an absolute gem! Nestled in the heart of this historic city, it offers a unique and cozy atmosphere that's steeped in history. Excellent stay in room 9 , fantastic bed gave a sound night's sleep. Great shower and a spacious bathroom . The cooked breakfast was superb , and highly recommended. The staff are really helpful ( we arrived in York at 11am and didn't check in till 3pm ) and it was no bother to store our luggage until check in . Our cases even ended up in our room ! The hotel sits a stones throw from the Minster so is ideally located and is only a couple.of minutes away from the Shambles . The TV reception isn't brilliant but the WiFi works really well so brings a tablet if you want to watch telly . In a building of.this age not having decent reception on your TV is to be expected and didnt impact us at all . Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended, we'll be back !

I came here for lunch upon hearing about their steak and ale pie. While not cheap, the pie is not only the best presented I’ve ever had but also the most delicious.Aside from the food, the atmosphere of the pub is hard to beat, with decor centered around Guy Fawkes. Plus, an excellent selection of local cask ales.

Ate with friends on Tuesday night. Well presented and tasty food. Quite pricey but no complaints about food quality or service which was spot on. I enjoyed the cow and pig burger. My friends enjoyed pies and the other burgers. Desserts were tasty but small for the price. But we were all full after two courses.

Very cool spot to have dinner in! The Sunday Roast was excellent! First time having it and really enjoyed the Yorkshire pudding. It was quite humid in the Inn, but it was a very neat historic building to be in! The staff is very accommodating and courteous :)

So, the location is amazing with a short walk to most things, but it's also in the middle of everything so it's loud late. It's old and kitchy, but none of the floors are remotely level, including beds and stairways. Very few of the staff were friendly and the water heaters only gave me a warm shower once in 3 days, even on off hours. It has tons of character, but with that comes a few annoyances

We stayed at the Guy Fawkes Inn during our visit to York in October. It was brilliant! The room was full of character and a treat to stay in. Our meal at their restaurant was incredible! The meat pie was wonderful and when we return next year, I plan to have it again.
