Went in with some supposedly diamond and ruby earrings that my grandmother had given me, bought from Joseph Rea. I asked the lady if she could tell me what they were, she grabbed one from my hand, looked at it for LITERALLY two seconds and grumbled “cubic” then handed them back to me. I asked what the gold was and she just said 9carat even though it’s evident there are two types of gold on the earrings. No looking at markings, no looking at the stones with any kind of glass, no testing, etc. They sell “diamond” earrings at such low prices because they’re 90% of the time cubic zirconia…Horrible customer service please avoid this jewellers - go to Lunn’s instead!

We popped into Rea's on a whim while still browsing for wedding rings. As it turns out we got a great service and a brilliant deal. We were presented with a wide variety of rings, and were allowed to talk through our thoughts without feeling rushed or up-sold on any rings. In the end we came away with lovely rings we are very happy with at a very good price. Thank you!

I'm a bit disappointed. My husband spent a lot of money on a platinum eternity ring and when I went back for resizing and an extra £80 for repolishing my wedding and engagement ring, I was quite shocked. My wedding and engagement ring came from the same jewellers. The young lady who served me had no idea on what she was doing.Deeply disappointed!!

Brought a Tiffany bracelet purchased at auction in today to get tested for gold and diamond authentication, valued and a very slight dent in shape repaired. Bored looking staff member proceeded to look at the mark inside bracelet and told me it said 18ct gold. I can read that myself. I wanted the item professionally tested and valued as the design is a very popular subject for fakes complete with very professional looking fake brand and gold 750 marks. Considering an authentic brand new bracelet costs well over £7000 it is not unreasonable to make sure an auction purchase is indeed real gold and diamond so that it can be properly insured. When I pressed for a valuation with gold testing and for examining/testing the stones the staff member consulted with an equally bored person working at the back, presumably the jeweller, and returned to state they can’t look at or test the stones. Rea’s own website advertises they can provide valuations and can do repairs perhaps the staff should acquaint themselves with their list of services offered. The professional response I expected was for them to have kept the piece for a proper valuation and testing or booked it in for a future valuation event, discussed costs and timeframes and this then would have allowed me to move onto discussing the feasibility of the repair required if the piece had value. Unprofessional, disinterested and unhelpful staff equals a previously loyal customer who won’t ever buy from you again, won’t be recommending you again and is heading straight to your competitors door.
