The Whistledown Hotel

Excellent, Excellent and Excellent! Book in advance for a meal or a stay as this Boutique Hotel is extremely popular all year round! Food is great for all dining experiences or occasions I've never been disappointed. A view over Carlingford Lough like no other you'll be back again and again!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Service was great, decor was lush ( we ate outside). Really lovely feel to the place. Lovely staff. Great food.

Had an overnight stay here recently en route to the Mourne Mts. It was recommended by friends who love the place. I can see why. Plush rooms and charming decor formed a backdrop to a level of comfort and service that can only be achieved by unremitting effort. I suspect the blonde lady who seemed to be everywhere at once is the powerhouse of this enterprise. Having spent a few summers waitressing in the States, I have an abiding interest in the nuts and bolts of the hospitality sector and the Whistledown is top notch. My other half who loves a good carvery beyond all other types of dining, rated it in his top 3 of all time.What particularly impressed me was the observation and responsiveness of the blond lady to the needs of the diners. No need to embarrass yourself by failing to catch a server's attention here! This manageress/ owner had an eagle eye to the comfort of her guests and we were well cosseted. Next time we will make it a destination rather that a stopover.

The carvery today was lovely with the meat cooked to a very good standard. They brought gluten free gravy fory sister who has coeliac disease. Staff were lovely.

Excellent location, exquisite food. Went for a meal on the off chance, as only a few places were open on Bank Holiday Monday. We were restricted further with having a dog, but thankfully we stumbled upon this gem of a place, with a lovely terrace and a stunning view. The food was delicious, and the service top class.

Stopped here for some food me and the family really enjoy our meal I had the whistledown burger and I simple could not pit it down full of amazing flavours juicy and yummy the staff were really kind helpfull a cosy feel to the restaurant

Drinks at the bar, very cozy. Had a lovely dinner upstairs in the private room. Everyone was extremely gracious. Would love to return when I'm back in N.Ireland.

Beautiful location next the sea side. Lacking parking space. Great room view to the sea. Good EU still coffee which is very important to us.

Great place to stay if you want luxury and a quieter pace of life. Explore along the coast using The Whistledown as a base. The staff are very helpful, going the extra mile to ensure your stay is just right. We dined in the restaurant and the food was incredible, great choice of dishes. Breakfast. Really is the bees knees.

Sunday carvery. No welcome.Long queue. Little choice of food. No green veg. Tasteless gravy. Blaring music and blinding lights. Like an expensive cheap wedding. Quite honestly one of the worst dining experiences of my life.
