Parham Airfield Museum
Visited last summer, so this is an overdue review. A small museum with lots of artefacts crammed into a small space. Friendly volunteers/staff. A lot of 'wreckology' - the remains of aircraft dug up locally - with some poignant stories. It's actually two museums in one; the memorial museum for the 390th BG AND the British Resistance Organisation Museum, which has some really interesting displays. Make sure you visit the replica underground bunker. Like all memorial museums entry is free, so it's definitely worth a visit. I reviewed it in more detail on Mechtraveller.

First time visiting today and very enjoyable, the volunteers are warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the items on display, the british resistance organisation was very interesting too.

This is a little gem of a place! Well done to all the volunteers who work hard to keep the place uptogether, clean and tidy. Free entry but donations welcome! Allow at least 3hrs for your visit. Light refreshments on site. You won’t be disappointed, promise!!

Great staff. Took me on personal tours. Lots of rich history here with the secret British force and the American Army Airforce base. Loved it.

If your into WW2 aviation (8th Air Force etc) then this place is a must see. They have so much to see, plan to spend most of the day here. There's a fascinating section about the secretive Auxiliary Home Guard whose story isn't well known. Thoroughly recommend. Free entry and parking but limited opening times so check before coming. Oh and they're dog friendly too.

What a fabulous place to visit. All run by volunteers & is free. It has an amazing selection of memorabilia & a lovely little cafe where you can buy a mug of tea for just £1.

Visited this great museum during their Military and Classic Vehicle event on 3rd July 2022, and was very impressed. There is a lot to see in the museum itself, and the view from the top of Control Tower out across the old airfield is most evocative. Although the museum is completely volunteer run there is nothing amateur about it. All the displays and exhibits are to a very high standard. Everything is well laid out with much interesting information provided. The volunteers were all enthusiastic, polite and very knowledgeable. There is a very nice tea room and excellent modern toilet facilities. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just a little museum where you can see everything inside of an hour. There is an awful lot to see. It is perfectly possible to spend an entire day. Visiting on a special event day and taking time to look at the visiting military vehicles and classic cars meant we didn’t quite get round everything in the museum. I must also say that it is remarkable that this excellent museum does not charge anything for entry – not even £1. With that in mind I would encourage anyone visiting to give generously – it is well worth it to support such a well-run and well-presented museum. In closing I would highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in aviation or military history. It is also of great benefit to anyone wishing to educate todays youngsters about WW2 – teachers and youth group leaders please take note.

I spent 3 very enjoyable hours here with my teenage grandson, what a great place. We’ve visited many WW2 aviation museums and this is one of the best, the BRO museum was a bonus. The volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable, the buildings smart and well maintained. The underground section, the control tower and a terrific cafe were a pleasant surprise as well. We travelled 70 miles to visit and it was worth it.

We had a wonderful day. My husband took his classic Rover P4 and it was very interesting looking around all the various different classic vehicles. We had a snack in the tearoom and looked around the museum. It is a comprehensive display of all things relating to the American and British air forces during the war. There was an ice cream van and a hot food van providing burgers, hot dogs, chips etc.For the children there was a Punch & Judy show.2 different groups were there. The first was a very talented Ukulele group singing the old wartime songs. The other was a group of girls singing American swing wartime songs. And, to cap it all, the weather was glorious.

Well worth a stop-over for this little museum. Volunteer staff are brilliant - all smiling and enjoying what they do. Our children enjoyed the treasure hunt and underground bunker. Nice sitting area for a cuppa and cake as well.
