Frederick Street Dental Care

Unfortunately, since Covid, I feel like the care for NHS patients at Frederick Street Dental Care has rapidly gone downhill. My check ups only last a couple of minutes and feel like a rushed inspection. Even when I paid to have an NHS hygiene appointment with the dentist (which still cost me £13) it felt like the bare minimum was done. I'm now due a further check up but have been told that the surgery no longer does a late night or weekend appointments for NHS patients. I can't get time off work to go during the day so I'm stuck as it's very difficult to get a new NHS dentist at the moment. I understand that dentists were under a lot of pressure during the pandemic but I'm disappointed that the great experience that I previously had at the practice no longer seems to be the norm :(

Such an amazing experience!!I highly recommended others to look into this dental practice!High quality service from the staff with a relaxing work environment to match it. Went to get a tooth removed and the dentist did it so swiftly that the extraction felt like it was over in a minute! The whole procedure was pain free and the staff where so friendly and caring for any questions I might have had.

Had a sore mouth for about 2 days. Being Easter weekend my usual NHS dentist was closed and the emergency service could only see me next day which was convenient.Called these guys, seem in 2hrs, X-rays done and informed me I had a bad wisdom tooth.They called for a dental surgeon and had it out in no time. Think i was there for a max of 1hr.All very polite, clean , fast and efficient.Would defo recommend.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could!Absolutely excellent experience. I got my wisdom teeth taken out on one side of my mouth, the surgery took 10-15 minutes for 1 tooth (the root was crooked so hard to remove) and less than 2 minutes for the other. The surgeon was very reassuring and very communicative during the surgery.After care was amazing, I unfortunately had an infection and was able to get it checked out by the dentist and given antibiotics. I also had to come back to get my stitches taken out. Both consultations were free of charge. I had a lot of questions about pain/healing/etc and the reception staff was super helpful.I would definitely recommend, the surgery and healing in itself is not a good experience pain wise but that is normal, having great after care really helped!

I moved to Edinburgh about two years ago, having delayed the visit to a dentist due to concerns over Covid. Unfortunately when I called recently, I was told that I am not on their register as I have not yet seen the dentist! In desperation I called several local dentists, all full for new nhs registration. Luckily I was able to register at Frederick St and was seen on the same day, which was followed by a hygienist visit and a filling quickly. The service was first rate, friendly and professional. I fully recommend them.I just want to update - I had a denture made recently. It was a difficult job due to the irregularity of my teeth. Impressions were made twice to ensure a better fit. Dr MA was very patient with me, spending a significant amount of time fitting it to my satisfaction and teaching me how to manage it. The staff here from reception to nurse are also very friendly and helpful. I hope they can keep running this excellent nhs service, highly recommended!

Needed an emergency appointment on a Sunday due to severe tooth pain. Frederick Street Dental were able to see me within an hour and following an examination and Xray, performed a root canal which alleviated the issue. The dentist and staff were all very friendly and informative. A couple of days later I contacted them saying I didn't think there was enough filling in my tooth and they saw me the same day to redo the filling with no fuss and no charge. No negatives to this experience.

I have to write a glowing review for Dr. Wadood Ur Rehman and his staff. I am travelling from Canada and lost a filling. It was very painful and needed to be fixed ASAP. I called the office and they were able to fit me in on short notice on a Saturday, the only day I would be in Edinburgh.The gentleman on the phone was extremely friendly and professional, and put me at ease right away. He clarified my question with the dentist right away and sent me a reminder before the appointment.I was very anxious the day of the appointment as I am fearful of dental needles. The entire experience was one of the best I have ever had, and let me tell you I have had a LOT of dental work done. The receptionist was lovely, calm, soothing. There was soft music playing in the waiting room.The dentist was a dream. He listened carefully to my concerns. He was extremely kind, patient and thorough. He examined my tooth and presented my options, giving pros and cons and never making me feel rushed. He explained the cost clearly.When it was time to repair the filling, Dr. Ur Rehman helped me through the needle. I barely felt it going in. I have NEVER in my life had such a painless dental needle. I was extremely impressed and relieved. The rest of the procedure was easy and I was out of there quickly. I cannot say enough about this fantastic dentist. He is an angel.If I lived in Scotland, I would switch dentists in a HEARTBEAT. I am incredibly grateful to Frederick Street Dental for saving my vacation and making the process so easy!Thank you so very much!

Needing medical/dental care is a bit nerve wracking while on vacation in another country, but the people here were wonderful. I had developed an abscess/infection and needed emergency walk-in care. The staff were wonderful and efficient, I was in and out in a half-hour (on May 6), with the antibiotics I needed in hand. Totally saved my vacation!
