Uncomfortable Oxford Walking Tours
The only way to truly explore Oxford and its uncomfortable past! I would highly recommend these well- timed, interactive tours created and ran by Oxford students. They offer the full story of the city, going beyond what meets the eye, and discussing things such as the colonial past of the university and its many controversial sources of funding. Great for both people exploring the city for the day, as well as people from Oxford, as it provides a whole new perspective on places you probably pass everyday!

Uncomfortable Oxford Walking Tours
Highly recommend the tour for anyone interested in exploring the less pleasant side to Oxford that other tours like to overlook. Jonathan was incredibly knowledable and led great group discussions. The walk itself was easy, and there were a couple spots to sit at some of the stops. It was well worth the money, and I would happily take another tour with them!

Great tour with lots of information and great topics to discuss as a whole group. We toured with Claire from S A, a post grad student of Oxford University; she was very friendly and knowledgable. The tour doesn’t involve a lot of walking and even in rainy and cold weather it was easy and enjoyable!Highly recommend it!

A friend and I attended the Uncomfortable Oxford tour with Dev and it was fantastic. I've never been on a tour which was so thought-provoking, informative and that encouraged so much discussion. It encourages us to think critically about the institutions and places around us and I wish there were more things like this. Thanks Dev!

Very interesting tour sparking diverse perspectives on Oxford’s past and inviting for a discussion from the tour participants. It was great to start with the original tour and I am certainly doing one of the topic-based tours in the future.

Uncomfortable Oxford Walking Tours
We booked several Uncomfortable Oxford tours as part of the Rhodes 120th Anniversary Reunion. These were the Original tour, the Oxford & Empire tour, the Follow the Money tour, and the Uncomfortable Ashmolean tour. These were all well-received by our attendees and very popular. The staff were flexible, communicative, helpful, and worked with our demands very well. Thank you!

Absolutely enjoyed this tour with our guide Nikunj! It was highly informative and very participative. Nikunj prompted the group to discuss race and gender dynamics, among other topics, that have shaped the history of Oxford and guided us past several landmarks in the city. Highly recommend!

Had a very good and informative tour, would highly recommend to everyone visiting Oxford! The tour guide was super nice and interactive, and we were total 5 people in the tour.As a student in the city, I wanted to learn more about the space, the city and the uncomfortable stories of the university. As there is so much history to Oxford, it really just scratched the surface, but gave me more appetite to join other more specific tours in the future. The tour focused on the tension between the city and the scholars (town and gown), Rhodes story, women in Oxford, Black students in Oxford, All souls college, how the university works, and a bit of history on the establishment of the town and the university. It is definitely a plus to have an Oxford student as a tour guide, since it allows people that are only visiting the city to find more about the personal experience of studying at Oxford and the insides of the university in current times.

Yesterday's 'Original tour' was excellent; informal, informative & (most importantly) participative & inclusive. Our guide Cameron was brilliantly engaging. And as the only Black 'Oxford Townie' in our group, I found this tour of my own hometown prompted POWERFUL learning & connections. Highly recommended to Oxford city peoples in particular!

we had a great tour, led by Lorika. Even as a resident of Oxford, for the last four years, there was lots of information on the tour that was new to me, and our guide allowed for lots of questions, discussion and conversation on “uncomfortable“ topics, which I subsequently went home and researched further. Will definitely be looking into more uncomfortable tours in the future.
