Had the pie, mash, and kale on a lovely, sunny evening outside yesterday. The mother had the pork belly, and we were both impressed with the quality of food and service and seating area outside. Thankyou

The room was disappointing, loud and overpriced. On the positive side, the food was great!Would definitely visit again for a meal.

Dinner for 3 . Arrived this is our 2nd visit we always do 2 so as to get a fair representation. Drinks hand pull pint of Uley nice . 2 diet cokes ,food ordered hallumi salad and the Greek salad both quite acceptable almost really good both lacking a reasonable portion of lettuce . Fish and chips is where we dropped from 4 to 3 star. Fish soggy and looked not a lot bigger than the whitebait I had to start with miserly portion of both chips and peas. Service was exceptional food tasty if a little mean portion size . Will revisit as nearly got a 4 . New bar / restaurant layout really nice albeit I did love their snug bar .

A small dog was barking but only when approached. The manager/owner of the hotel did not approach the dog owner at all. Just commenting here as I feel the Samuel the dog owner was not being honest about his review as that wasn’t what happenedThe dog was actually very aggressive and even barked at the waiters when serving them. All in all was quite distressing and upsetting for a wedding party who were also in attendance

Lovely building and rooms are very clean and nice but service couild be better. Seemed badly understaffed. Someone was sick in the men's and no one cleaned it all night, was still dirty in the morning. At breakfast no one acknowledged us for 45 mins after turning up at out booked table on time, there was no juice, no coffee or pastries for most of breakfast and even after we ordered out dry ups they didn't come for another 45 mins. We had dinner and the service was better but expensive meals 16 pounds for sausage and mash that was three Sausages and a tiny bit of mash and gravy with no veg, overpriced in my opinion. Lovely historic building, a shame.

Basic rooms. Ours and our friend mattresses have seen better days both being squeeky and a little warped from use - need replacing imo. Could hear neighbours talking and using facilities through walls. Very clean and nice linens however. Lovely service from all we spoke to. Good breakfast but could have been more of it. Location good for us, but is a long way out of town if that's what you want.

Booked to stay one night. The food was great and the bar staff very friendly and amenable. The room was clean but a little on the small side. The bed, however, was awful! Two singles pushed together not a problem in itself, but the mattresses were in terrible condition. You could feel the springs and the ends came up from the base when sat on. They had absolutely no support and you could feel the bed base through them. The bathroom was clean, but otherwise very small. The shower was so small I couldn't actually get through the doors. Even if I could I would have had to crouch down to get under the shower head. We raised the problems with the manager. She was totally uninterested and very starchy, she wouldn't even come to the room to see for herself. We had no choice but to stay in the nearest Premier Inn (which was gorgeous by the way!). Definitely won't be going back there to stay!

Had a good overnight stay here, room was clean and tidy, well stocked with amenities but slightly on the smaller side considering the price. Staff were friendly and kind, although the breakfast service was quite slow and there were some errors with our order. The breakfast was included in the booking price if booked directly with the hotel which was good. A decent stay generally, and a lovely building.
