Having eaten here before and enjoyed it we re-visited to celebrate mum's birthday on a Sunday. It was quiet upon arrival but filled up rapidly.I ordered the French onion soup to start and as soon as it arrived my heart sank. The onions were not caramelised leaving the soup looking pale and anaemic with a cheesy crouton placed on top, not finished under a grill with lashings of tasty Gruyere as it should be. It would have made a very tasty onion gravy to serve with bangers and mash or toad in the hole but it was not French onion soup. The main course arrived and I'd opted for the roast sirloin of beef. While I was pleased to see the meat was cooked beautifully the portion size was huge and overwhelming. We had to chase down the waitress to ask for condiments. To me, a yorkshire pudding is a vessel created to contain gravy which spills out once cut into but it was empty and dry. The gravy that was on the plate definitely came from a packet and was the same as what was served with the chicken, pork and pie. There was also simply not enough of it for the food on the plate. A separate gravy boat would have been nice. The stuffing was probably nice when it was fresh but mine had dried out and was rubbery. The other vegetables were OK with the exception of the red cabbage which was overly sweet (6/7 of us never ate it which surely should send a message back to the kitchen?)While I have previously thoroughly enjoyed the regular menu, I would not recommend the Sunday roast.

Went for Breakfast with some friends and we’re welcomed warmly and staff were attentive, quick with drinks and food orders.Breakfast buns were disappointing as the buns were not fresh and crumbled miserably. Drinks were nicely presented and overall the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing.

Excellent food and service, 5*Fish and chips - regular £15 comes with curry sauce and mushy peas, very fresh and the chips are properly deep fried, I'd have loved to see what the Jumbo portion looks like. The Lincolnshire braised beef was again very well cooked and seasoned, alongside this was a great selection of vegetables, a large Yorkshire and sausage meat stuffing, gravy was a little rich but I'm guessing it had a good splash of red wine - £17.95We had some bread while we wait which was freshly baked, the whipped butter was a great addition.Altogether the meal (bread appetiser, 2 x fish and chips, braised beef and drinks (3 soft half pints) was £66 including 10% service charge (which is well deserved as service is excellent)Online booking is easy so we will definitely be returning, the only slight issue we had was parking, clearly its very popular so the car park was full to the point it's hard to manoeuvre, we did find street parking just next to the restaurant so no biggy.
