The lock on the room we'd initially been given didn't work. 2 attempts of a card and then watch reception staff mess with ig. We had to suggest moving us to another room. Staff talked amongst themselves. We didn't get conversation (rapport) let alone an apology.3 out of the 5 staff we met have no idea what customer facing service/s is. Massively over priced for what it was. Both room (£140) and bar (20 +/- for two G&Ts). Air-con stuff in heat. Having left our room at c1600, we returned near midnight to find our room door had been left open by a member of staff. The person I spoke to the next day, believed to be Karen the manager, was not seemingly aware of my complaints.. advised to give her the day to investigate. I've not heard anything for 6 days. The hotel itself is in serious need of an overhaul. Carpets throughout are filthy. Walls dirty. Buttons missions from lift panels. Lifts internally have metal panels pulled away from walls.Room was bare. Some.liggts didn't work. Television precariously wall mounted. It turned itself off several times.Suffice to say, we won't be staying there again.

Lovely hotel, very funky and perfect for our 1 night stay in the city. Staff were great and our room was ready so we were able to check in early. The location was fantastic and walkable to and from the city center. Rooms were well furnished but needing a deep clean, while on the surface everything looked ok" a closer look showed the chairs had a thick layer of hair and dust and the carpets needed a really good hoover

We liked the Pentahotel but the only issues we didn't like was the corridor along the floor we were on, it just looked shabby, the carpet looked dirty and worn, the walls and doors were marked and scuffed. The grey tones are too dark and dull. TV wasn't great but it done. No wardrobe in the room just a floor press and a bar on top of it for hanging clothes. Other than that the bed was very comfortable and the food was good, these 2 things are what matter to us. Service was prompt. Location to the city centre and train station very good, just a short walk. Lounge is great with the pool table, we enjoyed that. Reception is at the end of the bar. There's shuffleboard in the bar, and a dartboard. There's a 10% discretionary charge on meal and drinks bills so be aware and don't tip as well !!!! A few new carpets and a coat of paint and it would be so much better. Would still recommend as it's got a nice subtle ambience to it.

Downstairs areas are great, but rooms aren't good. Next door to my room were incredibly noisy and the walls are obviously very thin. I could hear every word. Carpet and furnishings in the room were stained and the cups were not properly clean. Not great.

This hotel has so much to offer and has the capability to be a lot better in my opinion. It's quirky. The bar and lounge are great. The rooms are a good size but I think it needs a bit of TLC. I've stayed there two times and likely to be more as I travel up to the Midlands, both the times the rooms had something or the other that needed looking after. A refresh of all rooms would do this hotel great service!Won't stop me from staying there again though. Location is good too.

Let's do positives first:The staff are all really friendly and attentive. The public areas are all really cool, loved the shuffleboard and the digital darts. The bar downstairs and first floor are both great. The toilets in the bar were exceptionally clean. The room is a fair size, and quite cute with some quirky features. The shower is powerful, and roomy. The hand wash smells amazing. My room was very clean, and has a socket next to the bed. Black out curtains appreciated. It's not very far from China Town, around a 7 minute walk. So geographically, the location is good. They have a 3pm check out on Sundays which was a pleasant surprise! The negatives:My TV was very slow and often froze, so it was hard to just turn it on. It would then turn itself off, so I just gave up. The socket next to the mirror didn't work, so I couldn't see to do my hair.Quite a few stains on the bedroom carpet, and the bed was a bit too firm for me. It was also very creaky even just to sit down, it seemed like an old mattress. One of the lifts is out of service and I didn't feel particularly comfortable in the working one. It was quite small and rickety. I was on the 7th floor, and more often I climbed up and down the stairs. I got my steps in!The area isn't great, it's right next to a building site, and just not a very aesthetic area. It feels a bit sketchy. There's a garage and a londis close by, it's on a main road, but not one I'd feel safe at night on.

Amazingly close to the O2 Academy. Price was incredibly reasonable for a Friday night. Would have loved to have booked again for another gig in December on a Saturday but the price is a lot more unfortunately.Comfortable room, nice big TV. The hotel in general has a cool vibe and hats off to the interior decorators for the hotel who clearly have paid attention to the finishes. We were up on the 6th floor in room 617 (there are 7 floors in total). The room itself didn’t have a great view but as you can see from the photos there are great views on the other side of the building.Didn’t try the food or any other services/facilities as it was only for a very quick post-gig one night stay. However Shoaworma Hub next door is amazing for any kebab lovers! Also there’s a fairly sizeable newsagent around the corner. My only bugaboos are that they could do with a bigger duvet on the beds. The duvet is the exact same size as the bed itself so there’s no duvet grabbing possible without taking it away from your partner. A safe in the rooms would also be an improvement. As is to be expected for such a central hotel on a main road it’s a bit loud when you open the window, but it’s soundproofed nicely when closed and the room was a comfortable temperature. Will happily return if the budget allows, perhaps off-peak for me :)
