The bar. What an amazing experience. Alessandro very much lives up to his reputation as one of the best bartenders in the world. The level of customer service is exemplary. We waited, as everyone does, you must expect this. The experience is worth the wait. We were checked on numerous times during our wait with a high level of old world charm (in spite of the fact that our long term travel outfits, well, were not exactly bespoke lol). Upon entry to the bar the experience just improved. A great degree of care, a great degree of service and an obvious appreciation for the total customer experience. Seems to me that a few negative reviews here reflect a lack of appreciation for what is to be expected here. The many positive reviews reflect the actual experience; old world customer service and a tremendous (in my case) martini. World class.

Ah, the Dukes! Some complain about the small rooms or the difficulty of gaining entry to the bar of an evening, or some perceived one-time lapse in the service. Let the critics carp. It matters not. The Dukes will hopefully always be there to provide its guests with superb hospitality and its atmosphere of informal, understated elegance. I have travelled the world for 50 years now, and there are few lodgings anywhere that command not just my loyalty but my genuine affection. The Dukes is certainly one. Whether it's relaxing with that third cup of coffee after breakfast in The Drawing Room or having a perfectly made late-night martini in the legendary bar, you can always count on the Dukes to provide the same standard of excellence as on your last visit. Regarding the bar, guests should be aware that the affable manager, Alessandro il Magnifico, will bend over backwards to accommodate special requests. Hotel guests should be aware that they can reserve tables in the bar by contacting Alessandro but get to him as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Long live The Dukes!

This was a spontaneous visit. We didn't have to wait long, probably about 10 mins. We arrived at about 4pm I think! We weren't dressed up - my husband was in trainers and we were let in. They didn't comment on our attire!We both had the vesper martini which was the best we've ever had. It is very strong but if you like a martini, I'd highly recommend it!It is very quiet and relaxed, which we enjoyed.If you do go, just pop in the bar to let them know you are there and then you will be asked to wait in the lobby.

We came here so celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary & they couldn't have been kinder. A complimentary bottle of prosecco to the room was a lovely touch, as was the mulled wine & mince pies upon arrival. Thanks Dukes team!

The Mayfair location is fantastic, friendly front desk, and the best Martini in London. However, this is not a 5 star hotel in my opinion (after staying at many in London). The rooms are outdated and a bit noisy with the old pipes and windows banging in the wind, old beige carpet, just an OK bathroom, small reception area. I see this more as a nice 4 star hotel.

Just popped in for a martini as I have heard great things. The cocktail was good but the price was eye watering. I know you are paying for the postcode but still I think it was £25 for a dirty martini.

other than the fact that the front desk missed my wakeup call 3 mornings in a row(inexcusable)we were very happy here. i love the location, quiet and tucked away though well located and near many of london's sites. the rooms were nicely appointed though small(not surprising)and the service adequate though not over the top, it's england remember. other than the inefficiency of the front desk i will most likely return though not for business when i have to be somewhere on time!

I visited the Dukes Hotel for an afternoon tea at the drawing room! The view was lovely, the service was excellent and all staff were friendly and polite. The afternoon tea was so tasty, you had a vegan option and a vegetarian one too! Would definitely be going there again!
