Compassion and professional service from start to finish. We had a few bespoke requirements, all directed and catered for with no issues. Karen managed all arrangements without a hitch, keeping us informed at every stage and the celebrant, James, was excellent.

I used James Harper for my uncles funeral in March 2023. I have never arranged a funeral before,but felt in completely safe hands with Karen, whose help, knowledge & attention to detail was faultless. James Harper Funeral Directors and Alison were exemplary in their professionalism. From the onset they were considerate and professional. They did not push their ideas or sales but listened to what we wanted and guided us through the whole process seamlessly. We were very happy and everything ran smoothly brilliant and everyone couldn't speak highly enough the service and arrangements. Karen and her team have been a pleasure to work with as was Grant and the service/ funeral team (pallbearers). Their attention to detail has been exemplary and sensitive when needed. An excellent service. Karen was a fantastic organiser but more than that a very kind and warm person who helped us a great deal at a very difficult time. The funeral directors on the day were excellent and meant we were able to deliver the goodbye we wanted to give.

We recently used James Harper for my husband’s funeral. My husband was only 46 and we have three young children and so we wanted something that would be a true celebration of his life and one in which the children could be involved. Ian went out of his way to accommodate our requests. He stayed in close contact and generally went above and beyond to provide an excellent service. Absolutely fantastic. We used James Harper for my sisters funeral and we wasn’t disappointed with the level of service and care we received. We previously used co op for my Dads and had the worst experience and so was delighted when we chose James Harper. Karen was the leading lady and although new to her role she went above and beyond to help in anyway she could, from the fine details to having lengthy chats in the office, nothing was ever too much. We chose to use their celebrant and again he was fantastic. Reece led the funeral service was also very pleasant and so dignified with how everything was conducted on the day. I 100% recommend James Harper for delivering the care and dignity your loved ones deserve when they pass away.

My husbands funeral was held in March. and we could not fault the service we received. Karen in the parlour was very sympathetic to our situation, extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her, whatever question you needed to ask.The efficient conducted his roll excellently. Water was supplied in the hearse, should you need it, the cars were lovely. I cannot praise this company highly enough.

I would say to everyone going through this difficult time, place all you faith and trust here. They look after your loved one, they look after you. I knew instantly after speaking to Karen, this was where I knew we should be. Instantly, care, understanding. No hidden extras, every step explained. I felt at ease, the whole team are so respectful and kind. Just incredible.

We chose to use James Harper because they came across as truly genuine. We dealt with a lovely lady who couldn't have been more understanding and who gave us all the support and help we needed. She also put us in touch with a wonderful Celebrant who helped us get through a very difficult and traumatic time. I thoroughly recommend them. They were extremely professional throughout, as well as adding those extra personal touches, which is exactly what a grieving family need when going through such a heart-breaking experience.

We recently used James Harper for our mums funeral and throughout the entire process they were caring, empathetic and professional. When we first went in to the office on Plaistow roundabout we were understandably heartbroken about losing our mum and were looking for a team who would make us feel as though they were giving us a virtual hug and would look after mum like she was their own. Ian gave us this virtual hug and throughout the process we felt that the whole team cared. From when they collected mum from home to the moment they dropped us off after the service they looked after mum and all of the family. James was our celebrant and delivered a truly beautiful service, everyone who joined us for mum’s send off remarked on how beautiful it was. They are all a truly lovely team and we would highly recommend them
