College Lake

Disused chalk pits, now a wildlife haven especially for birds. Friendly staff, nice cafe. Lovely walk around the lakes, with scattered bird hides. Entrance is free but you're encouraged to leave a donation for the car park. Leave your dogs and bikes at home.

A beautiful place to visit with a well maintained path around the lake with much bird life. Perfect for a gentle stroll or a power walk. Somewhere to clear your mind and enjoy nature. Entry fee at your discretion. Child friendly. Limited indoor seating in cafe with outside benches. Good value beverages and a good selection of cakes served with some hot food. A great place to catch up with friends. The shop has a good variety of things for kids (educational and fun items of excellent quality). Some very nice luxury items for adults too. Some second hand books available. Apart from the amazing setting what sets this above other places to visit are the volunteers who largely run this place. Teams of volunteers under the guidance of rangers maintain the plant life, cutting back to keep pathways accessable and animal life safe. The entrance, cafe and shop staff are virtually all volunteers who clearly care about what they are doing and want everyone to enjoy their visit. I can't recommend this place highly enough to visit.

Family & dog friendly walks. Ample hides at various points for bird watching. Lovely little shop & cafe. Suitable for many.Update: 4 years on & a lot more has been added, especially with children in mind with the education of conservation.

Lovely nature area. Came on a stunning day and had a lovely walk.. Small cafe on site. Good amount of car parking too.

Lovely place for every ages, coffee shop, gift shop carpark, educational centre…list goes on. My family and I loved this place. It’s a great place to walk, watching birds and have a drink.

One of my favourite spots, now free parking too (but leave a donation!!), beautiful scenery and some great bird hides. Nice cafe and a small shop, the second hand bookshelves were a treat

Lovely find, easy to park, voluntary parking fee we put a £5 in the bucket. Nice flat walks with lots to see and do for the kids. Great Cafe and very much geared up to supporting the wildlife Trust. A must see if you're passing.

Plenty of parking and an easy walk, this is a peaceful and happy place with lots to see and learn. The history and old farming equipment is very interesting, and it's full of wildlife. Great for bird spotters of all ages. Wheelchair & pushchair friendly, handy toilets, and good cafe & gift shop.
