The Crown Hotel

Stopped in for lunch on two consecutive stormy days. The open fire made the bar/lounge cozy. Good menu for all palettes and appetites. Can recommend the homemade soup.

Decided to have lunch in the sun sitting looking out at the harbour, and the menu here appealed most out of all of the harbour-front pubs/restaurants.I had the Galloway haggis stack, which was lovely. Very happy with our choice.

Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel.When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated.After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks.The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming.We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes.We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? (£4.80 for 2 cans of coke)Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish.WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal.The foodThe baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless.I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave.I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad.The service during the meal was none existent.When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back.Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor.

Was looking forward to trying their ‘award winning seafood’ but I guess it’s luck of draw with the menu!We both went for the crab sandwich from the specials menu which tasted of nothing but came with nice chips at least.Staff are incredibly friendly and the venue is lovely but it’s maybe a case of too much on the menu to do everything well?

Warm and friendly staff, seafood was exceptional, we stayed in the village for two nights and ate here both nights because it was that good.My wife had the lobster thermidor and let it be known it was the best she has ever had.I would Highly recommend the crown hotel for a drink,snack or a evening meal.

Had a fantastic three night stay at The Crown. The staff and service we received were 5 stars and can't be faulted. The food was very good. The room could do with a lick of paint, but was still a good room with a great view. Would I stay there again...... yes, definitely.

Family of 4, had an evening meal in restaurant- there is a bar at the front and restaurant at the back. Thai curry and Cumberland sausage and mash were both excellent. Kids macaroni cheese was disappointing though as it was Heinz from a tin - to be fair it did say that on the menu - Heinz not the tin bit. Unfortunately with fussy kids we had to go with it - they were not very impressed. Thankfully the chips were good and the garlic bread was generous and delicious.Waiting staff were excellent and the wait was as you would expect for fresh food. Overall a good experience.

Stayed over for one night and the staff were fantastic. From the bar staff all the way to the cleaning team. Room was lovley and the view was absolutely stunning.We ate in the restaurant and had no complaints at all and we all really enjoyed the food we ordered.Breakfast was also very very nice.Thankyou again for accommodating us and we will be back in the future.
