Premier Inn Cardiff City Centre (Queen Street) hotel
Recently refurbished Premier Inn very close to the city of Cardiff. Check-in was quick and easy with the machines in reception. Our family room on the 8th floor was large, clean and comfortable, with additional pillows, hair/body wash and tea/coffee making facilities.Breakfast was tasty, but it was a bit disappointing as they appeared short staffed so food, plates, bowls and cups, were not replenished in a timely manner, meaning we had to wait around quite a while or try and find someone to ask. If staying here, I'd advise getting to breakfast early to avoid this.Another area for improvement would be the toilets in reception, they were not the cleanest with toilet paper all over the floor.I'm not 100% sure I'd stay here again, but mainly as I'd go for a hotel that's less central, as Cardiff city traffic is crazy and it took over 30 mins to drive 1 mile!

When I stayed, there were roadworks everywhere, meaning that getting to the hotel and getting out when I was there was much more difficult than it ought to have been. This isn't the fault of the hotel tho!The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to come and ask if needed anything when I checked in (late at 11pm as I was travelling). They answered all my questions about where to get something to eat, including making personal recommendations.Rooms up to the usual Premier Inn standard. Breakfast was excellent (even better than usual PI) and the staff were super friendly (despite me arriving just as they opened breakfast for the day). Service couldn't have been better.

The hotel is clean and tidy.Bed and pillows very comfortable. Plenty of power sockets and a hairdryer near a mirror.Very quiet within the hotel.I could only find Self check-in which you don’t want when you’re tired from travelling. My gripe about this is there was no information regarding times of restaurant and bar opening, nor how to checkout. You get a slip of paper with your room number on it and the card for the door.Guest service area has more tea and coffee to replenish what’s in the room, plus irons and ironing boards. There’s a sign in the room stating you need to let reception know if you want your room cleaned. Good luck finding reception! Not the best immediate view from the bedroom.

The room I was allocated was next to the elevator and was noisy. The hotel uses self check in kiosks and had no reception staff that I was aware of during my stay. The kiosks did not code the keycards well and found it would not let me in my room and so I had to try and find someone to help (bar tenders were only staff available). It was -1 degrees outside and there was no heating in my room, I tried everything; I had to sleep in all my clothes. The Queen/King bed was made up of two single beds and so had a large uncomfortable gap in the middle of the bed, leaving me to have to essentially try to sleep on a single bed. The mattress topper had seen better days and was hard and flat. The pillows were hard and one was also flat. I did not sleep much at all. I paid considerably more for this room than advertised and I am deeply disappointed, it was not worth the money I paid. I would not stay at this particular Premier Inn again.

One of the best premier inns ive been to before. we were lucky to get room 701 which is a larger room and the beds were comfy, the room was clean, the bathroom was good sized and the telly actually works (unlike holiday Inns). the view from our window was so good and we could even see Cardiff castle! the food was good, the staff were kind and even wished me a happy birthday and gave me a gift! (it was my birthday the day we stayed) the food was amazing, the seating availability was good too! also, the staff were helpful when my 9 year old sibling got stuck in the lift and we were so thankful. will definitely be staying here again.

Can I actually just say my stay here was the best stay in a hotel I've ever had, the staff are absolutely lovely and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome!Chatting with them at the bar/restaurant they were so friendly and bubbly full of conversation, they really made my weekend here in Cardiff memorable!Big shout out to the team, I was here on a work trip alone and felt like I was relaxing with friends! The room was spacious and the shower was phenomenal, was probably the best night's sleep I've ever had :)Thank you so much to all the staff for your perfect hospitality!

Nice clean smart rooms. If any extra supplies are needed (towels, extra teabags, ironing board etc) there is an area by reception where you can get stuff. Terrible mobile signal in room so had to rely on basic free WiFi or pay for the super fast added extra option. Checking in process is really easy on machines in the reception area as long as you have your booking reference handy, and there is usually someone to help if you have any issues.

We stayed here last night with out 9 week old. We were put in an accessible room with a cot, checked in, everything seemed like a normal premier inn experience and off we went to the christmas Market. When we got back we noticed lots of black mould in the bathroom, and rang reception to see if they could do anything as we didn't want our baby breathing that in.We were moved to a room on the 7th floor, as soon as we went in it smelt of cigarette smoke (smelt how pubs used to smell pre-smoking ban), we felt bad as we don't usually complain but rang reception again, they hung up on us (or perhaps we got cut off) and a few minutes later a member of staff appeared at the door, we asked if he could smell it and he said himself it was pretty bad" but he had come with a "magic spray" as he put it which he sprayed around the room. And told us to leave the room for 5-10 minutes to let it settle and he said it would get rid of the smell. Which left me stood in a corridor in my pyjamas with a newborn. He assured us it was safe for our baby even though it let an extremely strong chemical smell. In hindsight I wish I had asked to look at the label or what this "magic spray" was to check myself if it was safe for our baby to breathe in
