Wakefield Tower
The Wakefield Tower was the scene of the murder of Henry VI by Edward IV in the XV century. Henry VI was struck during his prayer in the chapel of this tower. The Wakefield Tower was the king's apartments and the Lanthorn Tower contained the Queen's apartments. It is one of the largest towers in the Tower of London.

Onderaan in deze toren vond tijdens mijn bezoek een tentoonstelling plaats over marteltuigen uit die tijd. Alles leek gewoon op elkaar gepropt in tegenstelling tot de andere torens. Bovenaan konden we genieten van een stukje reenactment.

Wakefield Tower
A royal round tower. Between 1220 and 1240 Edward I had this large round tower built in the innermost ward's wall. Wakefield Tower (probably) served as the private residence for the King and later was connected with St. Thomas's Tower.
