Nice restaurant in the city centre. Food was very mediocre; the pork in the honey chilli was very hard and chewy. Portion of the chicken wings is quite small compared to other places we’d been to (see in pictures). Pina colada was very watered down and tasted like nothing. The waiter that served us was very hospitable and friendly. Overall, the visit was okay and the decor is pretty aesthetic.

My colleagues and I sat in for dinner. I can only speak for the dish I ordered; a Chicken Pad Kee Mao, and it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were well-seasoned and had a great texture. The employee is very welcoming and friendly. However, the food took quite some time to arrive…

*Save your money and go else where*I ordered wood ear mushrooms and black pepper stir fry with vegetables and chips. Also Thai drunken fried rice with Asian vegetables. This cost £30.90 plus Deliveroo fees. The food in the pictures is the wood ear mushrooms and black pepper (the black pepper sauce tasted like cheap blackbean and the wood ear mushrooms looked like chopped up button mushrooms) stir fry with vegetables and chips which cost £16.95. The vegetables cost an extra £3.There was 4 pieces of broccoli. The chips that came in a brown paper bag wasn’t even 1/2 full. The Thai drunken fried rice with Asian vegetables which cost £13.95 only came with spring onions.I called the restaurant to complain. The female worker that answered could not understand a word I spoke. She then passed the phone to her the manager.I was told by the manager that she would contact the owner and get me 50% refund. Then I was told that the manager spoke with the chef and the chef assured her that the bowls, bag of chips were full and all vegetables were in the meals before they left. The chef told the manager that the Deliveroo driver must of removed some chips from the bag, removed some food from the bowls and removed the Asian vegetables from the Thai drunken fried rice. The manager told me to send the pictures to the owner via email. I didn’t receive a reply. This was two meals costing £30.90!!!

I have read some of the lower reviews before dining at Gong and I can understand most of it. The food is in between three and four stars, but considering the rest I just cannot go higher. The waiter carries 1 to 2 plates at the same time and thus takes far too long to serve a table. We waited 15min for a bottle of water, another 20 for our starters and 30 more for the main dish that was just noodles & vegetables. Another table that had come in about half an hour later had been being served before. At least the waiter apologized for that. I do not care if there is Asian music in an Asian restaurant but playing the same Celine Dion songs over and over again... that's quite annoying. Especially when you have to wait so long. Both wifi and coffee machine where under repair". I strongly suggest you guys change some things."

Considering food options and quantity, I won't recommend this place. As there are many other good asian restaurants with better food and service with reasonable prices in Belfast. We had ordered a vegetable spring roll (1/5) and Singapore style noodles (3/5). Both foods were way overpriced and quantities were less. We had visited this place for fine dining but we ended up sitting on bar height chairs which was definitely uncomfortable for dinner.Because of all these things we had only two dishes and went to another restaurant. Dine-in experience was very disappointing.

Extremely bad experience. Would not recommend anyone. We read the reviews on the chef being able to accommodate gluten free requests but when we got here they were very much not cooperative and let us know only the sides could be accommodated for my husband. And after 30 mins of sitting in the restaurant and ordering food they came back saying they are out of one of the dish. One of the worst experiences I have had and that too when the restaurant was pretty much empty. But I see why the place is empty and always has last minute tables. Would really suggest trying another place than this oneAlso we made a booking online for a standard table for 4 and they still did not give us a standard table, ended up offering a high table. Extremely unorganized and inefficient team

The most dreadful place I have ever been. After waiting to be seated we had to go and find a staff member who told us to sit wherever. After placing our order my sister felt sick and cancelled her dinner. I had to wait 1.20mins for mine. It was stone cold. When I complained having to go and find the waiter she offered to nook it for me. She got angry when I got annoyed about the time I had to wait and was offered a microwaved reheated dinner. I said I'd pay for our Coke zero and spirit zero. The 2 drinks cost 10 pounds. It wasn't busy.Keep away. Dreadful service dreadful food. SOO experience for drinks

Visited with a friend tonight (Saturday evening). We didn't have a reservation but luckily they were able to sit us right away. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was quick even though the restaurant was nearly full. I was a little disappointed that their in-house menu was slightly different to the one available on their website. The dish I had planned on ordering was not available anymore (no nasi goreng!) but the choice of dishes was still excellent. We ordered the salt and pepper squid as a shared starter which was tasty but possibly just a tad overcooked. For main courses we ordered the Thai green prawn curry and the classic fried rice with chicken which were both full of flavour and delicious. We didn't have to wait any time between courses and the portion sizes were generous. The décor was lovely and the atmosphere relaxed. Overall would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

The service definitely stands out - the staff were very friendly, fast and efficient. Our server was very helpful in recommending dishes. The fried dumpling starter was really lovely - they tasted fresh and the side salad was delicious. The mains of pad thai noodles and cashew nut stir fry, with an extra side of salt and chilli chips, were excellent. The food was hot, fresh, and large in quantity. The menu is extensive, with loads of choice including good vegetarian options. The cocktail menu is also excellent, and the bottled asian beers of course. We will definitely return!
