It was a late and unexpected visit due to original pub being shut (23.10hrs). Staff were fine, beer choice not great. Unfortunately too late for food. Was surprised at sparseness of customers for a Friday night. Ironically sufficient staff for customer numbers, must be a 'spoons first.Spends times 5.

This would have been a 5 Star review if it wasn't for the awful drain smell on the stairs and up to the toilets.Staff were friendly and quick to serve. Our pizzas came out with warm plates and were delicious. The decor and different areas in the place are great. There are 3 different outside areas to sit and enjoy the sunshine and a free car park to the side just tops this Wetherspoons of nicely.Worth a visit if your in the area and I'd love to revisit and give it a 5 star if the smell was gone.

After ordering on the app, the drinks arrived really quickly. After waiting for nearly a hour for food to arrive I had to go and ask at the bar when it would be served. The food: well overcooked the American style beef burger I ordered was burnt and was only different from the regular burger because they added a gurkin.. the service... well lack of it.. not a single member of staff came to see if everything was OK

A very nice Wetherspoons close to Bolsover castle.Pleasant service and good food. Internet can be hit and miss.Parking on site for the castle. Not sure if parking allowed for restaurant usersBetter than the two in Chesterfield (in my opinion)

Weve eaten here fairly frequently for the last year. The last two times me and my partner have eaten here we have had mild food poisoning. One time from burgers, the other time from Pizzas. There are clearly some food hygiene issues. I would not recommend eating here currently.

I had the meatless burger. I know oxymoron. But I've actually had good ones. This massive meal for a half starved kid cost over £9 because of that slice of cheese. I mean... I didn't expect much but the score is not based solely on the food. No one said hello. No conversation at all when food delivered... Am I just expecting too much? Either way. Below average food and no customer service. Great location though.

The Pillar of Rock is a large JD Wetherspoon pub that's directly adjacent to the village's single tourist attraction, Bolsover Castle. That's certainly the reason why the pub can get VERY busy during lunchtime, especially on weekends. The layout of this place is very straightforward (one very large barroom), and there's a smaller outside seating area to the front. Otherwise, it's pretty much JDW 101: cheapest drinks in town, including a fair rotating selection of cask ales (though smaller than at some other Spoons")

Our local 'Spoon is right next to the gorgeous Stuart-era Bolsover Castle and has reliably tasty food. The beers could be better and they often run out of ketchup but the staff is good, the bathrooms better than most, and the pizzas and desserts are incredible. Very good curry club, too.

This is definitely one of our favourite Wetherspoons for breakfast! The service was super quick and the breakfasts were delicious. Coffee machines at both ends of the bar is really useful. After eating we took our drinks outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Lovely!
