Camlas Petcare Vets - Welshpool

We have a holiday home in Llainfair Caereinion and I had to rush my dog here on a Sunday night out of hours. I was met there by a very reassuring and calming vet named Louise Robin who helped me to calm down. The care she provided Coco was second to none! She kept Coco over night to run tests and monitor her and kept me informed. It was confirmed that Coco had bloat and needed emergency surgery. I was allowed to go back to the surgery to sit with her until she was going in. Louise was very supportive and explained the risks etc.Coco had the extensive surgery and I was allowed back to visit her and bring my 3 other dogs to see her as they wouldn't eat or anything without Coco. Once they saw her, they were fine.The care provided by the vets and nurses was outstanding and Coco pulled through, despite the slim odds.I now use Camlas all of the time, despite it being half an hour away. They are an amazing team who have looked after my pack well, going that extra mile for us.They are also very affordable. They did a scan which cost £150 that I'd had carried out in Shrewsbury (and was told there was nothing wrong with Coco except I was being neurotic!) that cost almost £800!!Cannot recommend this place enough.I've included photos of Coco when she was poorly, during her stay and after. Needless to say, you wouldn't know there was ever anything wrong now.

Very pleasant, friendly staff. But beware: My dog is registered elsewhere but had to go Camlas for an eye pressure check, as my vet doesn't have the equipment. Camlas charged £55 for an 'initial consultation' despite the fact that we'd been there 7 months before for the same check.The pressure test cost £39, which I thought reasonable, but a 250ml bottle of shampoo turned out to be £32. He has done fine in the past with a much cheaper pet shampoo from either my usual vet (£8.68) or even the supermarket (£3.15). I didn't like to return it when I found out the price because I'd already said I would take it and a label had been stuck on it. It hadn't occurred to me to check the price beforehand.Had I known earlier about the cost of the appointment, I'd have gone to a different vet, further away, but who would charge less than £40 for the same test, with no 'initial consultation' fee. I was told that, if we go regularly to Camlas for pressure tests in future, we'll be charged for only the test and no additional cost. But I consider that this visit counted as regular, since the only other pressure check he'd had since the previous one at Camlas was at a specialist eye clinic in Leominster two months ago.So, disappointed in Camlas as a company, I cancelled the next appointment I'd booked with them and now have one with the vet that's further away.

We want to thank camlas staff for the care and attention they gave my dog Rosie and ourselves when we rushed her down but she was very ill and so we followed advice and did the right thing for her we were treated with compassion and care about her cremation so thankyou for arranging that and the lovely card and her footprints and flower seeds we will never forget how we treated so thankyou again you were great

5 stars all the way for Camlas Vets in Welshpool. The staff couldn't do enough for little Mouse ( Mouse is a dog ! ) yesterday. Taking time to explain everything and get to know her before I left . The scar is the neatest scar you ever did see .Thank you so much . Mouse is doing wonderfully,

150 miles from home at 4.30pm our dog needed treatment. Our home vet found for us Camlas number. Within 30 minutes the Camlas vet had verified our dog's history with our home vet, prepared the medication and had everything ready for us when we got to her. Wonderful, responsive and 100% professional.

Shocking experience at this vets, the vet told us our dog only had 24 hrs to live which we did not believe, we took her to another vets for a second opinion which gave her 4+months, extremely distressing experience with very little compassion from the vet or from the reception staff. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely brilliant with my cat . So kind and caring. They sorted her absess quickly and efficiently. It's always expensive to use any vets but this vets is an average price and well worth using.

Had to take my dog there while we were on holiday, the staff were fantastic, friendly and really helpful.We only waited 20mins minutes as we didn't have an appointment..would highly recommend.
