Visited here for their Christmas fair , which has become a tradition for us , in the build up to Christmas. This is such a beautiful location which lends itself very well to hosting such events , this year again lovely , never disappoints .Lots of lovely crafts on display by so many talented people , lovely choir singing carols and the mansion itself so full of old fashioned charm. The scenery is superb , we enjoy the walk from home farm towards the mansion .This event is so well organised and very popular.A lovely place to visit and spend a few pleasant hours .

This National Trust property has less to see within the house the most others, but does have a lovely tea room, grounds, castle, used bookshop, and a few rooms within the house to see so is still a lovely visit. The Newton house is from the 17th century, and you can see two rooms on the ground floor, downstairs rooms (nice but without signage), and five rooms on the first floor that are not period rooms but instead an exhibition on the house. It took us about 30-40 minutes to see and read most things. The castle took us about 45 minutes to see from the house, in lauding the slightly uphill return walk and enjoying the ruins and views from the castle walls. (The views truly are superb)The cafe has an outdoor kiosk with seating or an interior area, but the interior does require admission as you can also access the downstairs room from near there.Car park does have a charge for those not National Trust members.Toilets are clean but not fancy inside, and there's then another set in the car park.

'Beyond The Borders Festival' - a friendly, family event, with a story telling theme, held in the grounds of Dinefwr over the weekend. Plenty of space to roam, stalls to visits and a full timetable of entertainment. I had a really good day. Campsite and plenty of local accommodation are an option.

This place is gorgeous! The rooms inside the house have interesting items, it's like a small archaeology exhibition because it has items that belonged to the people that used to live there.I love the gardens. We saw a group of deer in the back one!At the front of the road that leads to the entrance, they have white coos that are unique to this place! And a small fairy-town spot! This is a really lovely place. Plus, they have interactive games/activities throughout the state — they have a giant chess board in the front garden, there's a 500 piece puzzle in one of the rooms, and one of the rooms is a library that sells cheap nice books (the pricey" ones cost £3)."

Well worth the 90 minute drive from Cardiff. We were greeted by a field of white cattle. They were lovely. We looked around the house which was very interesting and a little spooky and chilly down in the basement. Some interesting artefacts to see and read about plus films to watch. The sofa was used in Downton Abbey and was gifted to the house. The deer park was wonderful, a lovely serene walk here through huge ancient woodland. We were lucky to see 2 deer.Eventually we walked up a long incline in a field, through a woodland to reach Dinefwr Castle with stunning views.Definitely lots of walking and other paths to take.

Visited on a wet day, great walks and sure the views from the castle would be great on a clear day. Pleasantly surprised that our dog was allowed on the ground floor of Newton House and in the cafe.

What a lovely house to visit. We went to the lovely cafe first as we arrived during quite a rain storm then made our way through the house. Plenty of unique artifacts on display of the family's past and how they fixed part of the ceiling mouldings. Even on display the old fashioned protection of a cat in the walls. Loved the tree made into a fairy village on the path up to the house. Well worth a visit

Absolutely great place to visit. The kids will love it with places to explore both inside and out. Makes a nice change to find a property that welcomes dogs (only one floor they couldn't go to). Recommend the walk to the castle which has the most amazing views and lots of nooks and crannies.

On a very wet day, Newton House was a ray of sunshine. A home that has seen better days but one with a warm and spacious atmosphere. The staircase is the most wonderful part. Finding a hot drink and lunch in the welcoming cafe helped us to dry out. The Fairy Village on the walk up to the House is a creative, talking point. The Fairy Post was obviously well used - enchanting!
