Very pleasant stay. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. Nice breakfast. Stayed in the petite room. Very clean & nicely decorated. Enough space to move about. The standard double bed was too small for two adults so we didn’t sleep well. a large double would be more comfortable.

Our stay at Smiddy house was absolutely incredible. We had hiked 20 km that day and was welcomed by the most heart warming and sincere hosts in Craig and Emma, and of course their dog Annie. The rooms were the cleanest and nicest of our entire trip, and the location was smack dab in the middle of Spean Bridge. Can recommend for both a short stay, or a longer stay to enjoy all the activities the highlands offer.Spean Bridge also offer shopping and dining opportunites which Smiddy House is very close to.

My friend and I enjoyed an extremely pleasant stay (end of Sept 2023) at Smiddy House which we both highly recommend. Emma (the co-owner with her husband) was incredibly warm, welcoming and attentive paying notice to the smallest of details. We were drenched from our first day of walking on a 7 day walking trip and she took all of our wet shoes and bags to a warming room to help dry them and likely saved my friend's Gortex hikers (which would have been a real issue given it was day one.) There was lovely linen on the beds, good temp control in the room, lots of warm shower water, lovely products, nice relaxation around the fire in the sitting room and a delish breakfast. We were truly impressed at the lovely and gracious stay we had. Thank you so much Emma! You have a lovely place!

If it was possible to give more than 5 stars then I would. This isn’t a review of the accommodation nor the hospitality but a glowing statement to tell others of how amazing Robert & Glen are. Me & my partner were in a car accident just outside the property and Robert & Glen were so kind enough to come out and make sure we were okay and allowed us into their property to let us calm down after we were pretty shaken. I can’t thank them enough both enough for what they did for us and i would recommend everyone to come to their place of stay as they are both amazing human beings.

The owners have put so much love into the guesthouse and it shows, from the tasteful and relaxing decor to the tasty food. Between the three of us we had everything on the breakfast menu and enjoyed all our choices. Exceptionally nice black pudding and mushrooms. We've had a warm welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Also the only place we have stayed along the Great Glen Way that put our bags in our room for us, that was a nice touch! The fudge that was left as a sweet treat alongside the room's tea station was wonderful.Location wise it is worth noting that it's a small trek from Gairlochy if you're hiking the Great Glen, but the owners kindly offered a shuttle service which makes it super convenient. (A lot more dinner options around Smiddy House than in Gairlochy and it is a scenic short drive)

A great place to use as a base for climbing Ben Nevis, much better than an overpriced chain hotel in Fort William. It's only 15 mins drive down a single road. The hosts are laid back and very welcoming, and even booked a table at a nearby restaurant for us. This was lovely and I'd highly recommend it (The Whispering Pine Lodge). We stayed in the petite double which was small but comfortable. There's also a bar area downstairs perfect for resting with a drink after a long day walking.

If I could give 10 stars I would. I can't put into words how wonderful this place is and how perfect the food is. Russell is one of the most polite and kind people. The food prepared by Glen was simply the best food I have ever had. I would walk from London to here just to have that unique experience again.
