Matthew was very thorough, he assessed the job before taking it on, and then talked us through the options. The end result is a beautiful and sturdy side table, that used to be my grandparents, but now sits comfortably in our house ready to give years more service. Would definitely recommend the odd thing!

Delighted with our coordinating desk drawers. Matthew at The Odd Thing really understood our brief. He cleverly up cycled our unwanted desk panels, which were destined for landfill and transformed them into a set of handy matching drawers which fit perfectly under our existing desk.They’re smart, stylish and practical. We particularly love the made to measure storage Matthew designed for our numerous laptops - a brilliant and practical space saving solution. Great service and attention to detail. Highly recommend.

Matthew at The Odd Thing designed and built a great wall mounted shelf for our home office. It coordinates really well with the rest of our office furniture and is a real focal point of the room.The shelf is sturdy and has been designed to be deep enough to hold magazine files, a really practical feature. Matthew even provided the wall fixings for mounting - first class service!

I would highly recommend Matthew at The Odd Thing! We had attempted to make a window seat cushion ourselves but became totally flummoxed by it and it soon became clear that we needed an expert! Mathew pointed us in the direction of some online fabric sellers and we quickly made decisions about the colours and style we wanted. We had the fire retardant fabric sent directly to The Odd Thing which made life much easier! We are over the moon with the end result. It has really pulled together the space and complements the decor beautifully! As the cottage is so crooked the geometric design works really well and the piping and attention to detail are fantastic! We now have a similar project for Matthew in the sitting room!

Matthew did a “makeover” on my old dining table taking it back to light oak from dark oak. Not knowing what it would look like, he was very helpful and brought me small samples with various finishes so I could choose. It looks amazing and I’m thrilled. I would definitely recommend Matthew and will be using him again.

Matthew has totally transformed our old chairs into new statement pieces. They look incredible and we're really pleased with the overall look and finish. Upcycling to modernise dark wood furniture. Pictures show transformation.Sideboard was solid cherrywood with a dark shellac. Stripped back to natural colour with farrow and ball accent colour added. Interior painted a very dark blue.Cocktail cabinet g-plan originally veneered mahogany. Stripped, painted and cherry wood veneer applied. Internal dressed with brushed gold leaf accents.

Matthew did a great job on a piece of furniture I wanted repainting. Very quick and he did an excellent job. Would highly recommend and I will definitely use The Odd Thing again.

Matthew at The Odd Thing totally transformed my nearly 50 year old couch that was my parents'. He gave me many material options and did an incredible job of rebuilding parts of the inside and reupholstering it. It looks and feels brand new.
