Not normally one for typing reviews as a hospitality worker myself I understand the struggles etc. But tonight was my first visit, and most likely my last. Upon arriving, we waited around 5 minutes to be even seen for the ‘hostess’ to walk away to ensure our table was probably ready? We were crammed into a small round table (suited for 2people) next to the massive open view window. The people around us were barely 1m away. After ordering food and drinks on the app, two food orders came out wrong (no fault of anyone’s except the apps) which left me sitting with my meal for around 20 minutes until my 2 friends meals were sorted and appeared, I didn’t receive any cutlery and when asking for some, we received two sets and a waiter with a face of a slapped fish when she was told I hadn’t received cutlery to begin with although she brought my meal to me. The issue with table space was explained and although the ‘hostess’ explained about EHO and LSO approving it, I’m sure they approved table spacing but not actually the amount of people per table etc. As a chair was easily pulled up on the table behind us which although set for 2, was then changed to a 3 in a few seconds. A round of drinks on the house was offered and a move upstairs. Moving up stairs felt as though we were in a different establishment. It was quite, classy and a whole load different from what seemed to be a downstairs crèche. The comment was made by myself about “understanding the need to get business in during this difficult time” which the ‘hostess’ replied “its about keeping staff and customers safe” and I’m sorry but not once downstairs did any of my table feel safe, we may have paid 1/2 price for our meal, but at what cost? Our lives? A catch of COVID? There was surely more 40 people downstairs, and the staff singing happy birthday to a crowd in the corner? Is that even allowed??, After being accommodated with a few rounds and desserts to make up for our issues and kitchen mistakes, we left feeling ok, but still a bit disappointed at the amount of mistakes our table were the brunt off. And we watched more than a few plates return with mistakes. I understand how difficult it is, but using the excuses of “trial chefs” is not acceptable, 3 plates of the same meal, but two had what the menu stated and mine had a few things missing, which after sitting with it for 20 minutes I just gave up caring for what I had and what I didn’t get. All I recommend if for all chefs to be on the same page of the menu expectations, read their checks and the waiters to remember customer service even through the tough times. The manager couldn’t be any more helpful and understanding and that customer service skill is something she can hopefully pass onto her staff.Overall, after a bad start, it ended ok but probably wouldn’t be recommending to others :)

Had the mozzerela sticks and the fish and chips today - the chips and the mozzerela sticks were lovely, so nice you couldn't fault them but the fish wasn't great. Was like a prepacked frozen fish and it took a long while to come. For two courses we were in for about an hour and a half.We had three meals on the two course menu but think we were overcharged as the bill came to £33 something. When each person should have been 7.95 & a can of coke, unless they are £3 something each.Place was decorated really lovely not too sure if we will go back

Was really looking forward to trying here & was left disappointed. Was put off straight away with the sticky tables.Amy our waitress was lovely no fault of hers.Tried the haggis & black pudding fritters totally saturated in fat & not much taste.I had macaroni cheese which was nice.Hubby wanted steak pie but they had none even though the lady sat beside us had it, so he ordered chicken Balmoral the chicken looked well done but the whole dish was cold, we told Amy & she said she would heat it up. She brought a newly cooked plate which was just as cold as before. We payed our full bill & left but will not be back.Bar 68 is far superior

We had our Christmas Night out here and on the menu it said there would be pigs in blankets for the main and they weren't served up. One starter got served and there was no cheese filling inside. we got told there would be a couple of bottles of free wine served on the table and that also wasn't there. Food was all served at different times and it wasn't hot it was more just luke warm. I would say we were disappointed with the food because a few of us recommended then because we have ate from just eat and had no issues, there was a few other wee bits but not worth adding in.

Tried this for the first time tonight with friends we got the 3. Course meal which took 3 hours all together to serve there was no excuse the place was quiet every time we finished a course no one bothered to check our table to see if we were finished shocking service bar staff to busy talking to each other to check on customers. Ended up having to go to bar to ask for our desert to which they only served 2 and missed my friends desert defo won’t be back there was no need for poor service when it was dead

Went for lunch today and I'm sorry to say i wont be going back. Ordered a chicken burger took one bite only to find it smelled awful. I brought this to the attention to the server/ manager but was told it was impossible for it to be off as they were frozen burgers. Also my partners order was wrong. I was basically made to feel like I was lying and although she did ask if i wanted anything else I couldn't have faced it, it totally put me off. I have been here before and i wasnt disappointed just a pity it was totally disappointing on this visit.

We booked a table online for 18.30 and arrived at 18.35. When we arrived it was clear that no-one knew about it so bad start. However the young lady with the blond hair couldn't be more helpful. That is where the problems started, as my granddaughter who was 10 years old, we were told that we would have to leave at 20.00. That was not a problem but... it took 15 minutes to get a drink and nearly 30 minutes to get our starter. Bearing in that at that point there were only about a dozen people in the pub none ordering meals. We then waited until 19.40 to get our main meals and our second drinks, we were approached at 19.50 to finish up to get our granddaughter out by 20.00. To their credit we were given our desserts to go but the only time that we seen the staff moving fast was to get us out of the door. The other main complaint was that when getting our cutlery was it was literally chucked on our table on a plate as fast and unprofessional as possible.Sorry guys the young girl with the blond hair (sorry I didn't get your name) was the only person who actually went out her way to make us feel welcome. Would I go back probably not. Haven't even reviewed the meals as we had to rush them in the 80 minutes thatvwe were there.
