From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by Stephanie at reception. A bottle of bubbly was waiting for us in our room as we were able to check in early. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the use of the spa facilities as it rained constantly for 2 out of 3 days that we stayed. We booked the 3 course meal option at the restaurant and it did not disappoint, the food was very well presented and absolutely delicious. The restaurant staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

This stay was for our 47th wedding anniversary, birthdays and Christmas for which we were really looking forward to. Initially we found everything to be fine. Staff were amazing at all times, and food could not be faulted. However it all started when we found drips coming from the ceiling and running down the walls in the bathroom, the leak was not the staffs fault nor could they locate where it was coming from. They could not relocate us to another room due to an event and none being available. We could not sleep for the continuous drip and were upgraded the following day, with free full English for our entire stay. There was a bottle of Prosecco in the room and strawberries as part of the deal. Within less than 24 hours the strawberries were mouldy However, the shower in the upgraded room did not work plus bath water didn’t run away very fast , My husband ordered a bottle of Prosecco for the table on our anniversary, it was just put on the table and not opened as would normally be, nor was the table decorated as others had received. On the same day we went out for the day expecting the room to have been serviced while we were out. This wasn’t done. At about 4.30 housekeeping came to ask if any towels were needed or teas/coffees, nothing else was done to the room. Whilst I have to reiterate the staff were amazing and compensated us for the above, I would not stay there again

Beautiful view from our room. Directaccess to the garden from the room.Rooms need attention, stains on the carpets and walls, knobs missing from drawers. Plus many more problems. However, the problems didnt spoil our visit. It could not have been faulted for its situation.....

We spent a beautiful spa day here. The hot tubs outside are lovely and the pool is great. It wasn’t busy at all and I can’t complain for £45 per person :)

This is what I believe to be a fair review of our stay. We arrived just before 4pm - the stated check-in time - to find that our room had not been made up on time, which it later emerged was due to a low staffing issue. After numerous incidents of being told it would only be 20 more minutes, we were able to access an alternative room in order to shower and freshen up, and we went out for dinner, assuming that by the time we returned our room would be ready. Sadly, it wasn’t, and we were almost at the point where we were looking for somewhere else when we were handed the room key at 8pm. However, despite this nightmare of an arrival evening, the manager and staff were hugely apologetic and accommodating to us - we received a free cooked breakfast for each day of our stay, free use of the spa and a free evening meal for the next night - my wife’s birthday. The manager and staff going the extra mile like that ensured that her birthday was actually great, despite our fears from the first night. The food was very good, and the spa, especially the outside areas, was excellent. The hotel is second to none in terms of location, with superb Lake views without the hustle and bustle of nearby Bowness. The room could use some sprucing up, though, with stains on the carpets and marks on the walls. With a bit of a sprucing up and addressing the staffing issues, this could be the best hotel in the area. A special mention goes to Jacob, who was extremely accommodating when manning the bar.

Arranged afternoon tea at Beech Hill to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The staff and surroundings were lovely, it was windy so we couldn’t sit outside but thee were still great views through the large windows. The food was tasty but definitely lacking in quantity. There was less food than any other afternoon tea we’ve had elsewhere, Disappointing as it wasn’t particularly cheap at the price of £37.We won’t be rushing back for another one anytime soon

Its an older hotel and needs some refurbishing which i believe is underway. Could really do with an elevator (lots of stairs). Food is great both in the fine dining restaurant and the bar. Enjoyed our stay

Considering how some of the roads in the lake District can be tight and bendy. This hotel is on a nice easy road. Easy to access. The views are not only incredible but you can actually go and touch the waters of Lake Windermere. Great outdoor seating area for some night-time romantic wine with a spectacular view.

A lovely building that needs a lot of attention . Great staff, struggling under a sea of complaints about the poor cleaning and housekeeping. Our room was lovely, just not clean enough and we'll kept enough. Obviously a staff shortage. Spoiled our stay even though the food was lovely. Building needs attention, staff need appreciation!

The room we had and others listening to people complaining, was well below the standard expected for the price paid. The room wasn't cleaned or serviced during our three night stay. We had a lake view room and the view was obviously amazing but there was a tiny terrace outside that people could walk within inches of our window, the door to the terrace was exceptionally insecure and a good shake would have given anyone access to our room. The corridor was never cleaned and as the hotel is built on the hillside there are a lot of internal stairs to be climbed to access the restaurant etc.The staff however were polite and friendly but you get the impression they are not allowed to say or do anything that might upset the management, who are inaccessible.
