About the Business
Mountsorrel & Rothley Marshes | Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust | This innovative reserve is part of the Soar Valley floodplain system. Originally agricultural fields, harvested for maize, grazed by cattle and used as grassland in their recent history, we are now allowing nature to take back control. This is perfect for both people and wildlife, as we hope that this floodplain reserve will help to protect the homes and livelihoods in the area, by soaking up rainwater in times of flooding. This also creates ideal conditions for plants and animals to thrive.

Mountsorrel Meadows Nature Reserve
This place is so beautiful, it is a great place to walk the dog, there is lots to see and the views are great, there are some off lead bits and bit I would keep him on lead, just so he doesn't scare the wildlife. It can get very muddy here so after a visit you will need to wash your dog to get any mud from between there pads as this can course foot rot. Every time I've been it has been clean and tidy with no rubbish left any where, having gone quite a few times now I can say I would definitely recommend this place for a dog walk or just a walk to get some fresh air.

Always walk the dog around the meadows. Plenty of walks. Does flood after heavy rain. It's a little dodgy later on in the evening, but I think that's the council for not fixing lights.
