Visited The Retreat on Friday 11th Aug and sat in the bar area for food so we could watch football. I ordered fish and chips, looked lovely when it came out, but 3 mouthfuls in and it all came back up. Something was not right with this plate of food. Scott who was in charge refused to give us our money back, only offered to replace the food. Who wants to eat when they've just been sick? Wouldn't even give us a voucher for another time. Apparently had processes he needed to follow and said he would call me the following morning. He kept repeating himself over and over again saying if he refunded me it would mean they admit responsibility and i could go off to the papers! Bit far fetched! He eventually walked away. I felt seen off and still felt sick. To this day, I've not received a call. Went into reception on the Sunday to advise what had happened, they seemed shocked by what had gone on and promised to sort it out and contact me the following day. Again, I've still not heard a thing despite me following up with an email to the manager. Such a shame our holiday started off like this. Holmans Wood where we were staying dealt with this for us and gave me a £20 voucher as a goodwill gesture. Still disappointed no-one from Finlake has got in touch.

We booked a meal here whilst staying on site.Food was ok, small range of dishes, a little on expensive side. Desserts were tiny. The staff were mainly teenagers, very friendly and helpful.

Really tasty food, super friendly staff who made up various veggie dishes that weren’t on the menu for us.

Food was very good. And portion sizes are generous. I had the king prawn linguine in a creamy garlic sauce, which for me was very creamy. Prices aren't cheap. My daughter and husband had the steak which is £18 but both said it was the best steak they've had in a very long time.

We have loved staying at this resort. The lodge, pool and surroundings are perfect . Sadly the food is not. We have eaten at The Hub & The Retreat and although the price is reasonable the food is not. Definitely the weak point of the this venue . The staff at the restaurant were also a bit inadequate compared to other departments. Giving little attention to the customers, slow service & vague interaction.

Kayla offered a good service. She was attentive and looked after us. The portion sizes were incredible and the food was seasoned amazingly! Great value for money! All in all a great visit.

Honestly I’ve stayed here loads over the years and never bothered eating in the restaurant as was happy cooking in the lodge. Had some friends over (9 of us in total) and rather than driving to get a take away we thought we’d give this place a punt. Having stayed in lots of holiday parks over the years we expected mediocre and slightly overpriced food at best……so when we arrived and we looked at the menu it was surprisingly good value. We ordered burgers, chicken dish and kids fish fingers. It arrived quickly considering the place was full and lots of large groups and I was amazed at how nice it all was. Good sized portions and plenty of flavour. Certainly a much higher standard than you would expect from this type of establishment. I don’t know why this has had poor reviews in the past but it certainly was very good and if you’re staying here it’s certainly worth checking out.

Excellent food & service. The lamb, steak & pork chop were cooked perfectly, and if you haven't tried basil fries before, they're amazing. All of my family left saying we're going to try learning how to cook them. The cocktails were good too & the prices were fair. The young blonde lady who served us was very friendly and tentative & the duty manager was friendly and approachable too.I look forward to coming again!

Lovely food from both the hut and the retreat, fish meal and scampi meal are super fresh and crispy, the chip either the thick type or the thin ones, they are all golden crispy and tasty as well, the burger meal is very yummy, too. And The staff had been really helpful and friendly as well. Great experience with both restaurants inside the Finlake, keep up!
