Expensive for the quality and amount you get.I must say that I absolutely loved the Onion Bhajis but the rest of the food was just ok.The naan was really poor (we got 3 because we love to dip in our curries), really quite tough.

I can honestly say this is the worst curry I've ever had. Got 2 takeaway meals and when we got them home the plastic pots were only half full with onions and dried up meat. They gave us a seperate sauce which I can honestly say was the blandest sauce weve ever had with a curry. It had zero kick to it, very very mild and tasted and looked like heinz tomato soup. The keema nann had meat in it that again was totally unseasoned and bland and again dried up. We paid just over £40 for these two meals and a combo starter which I thought was quite alot. The owners of this restaurant need to get rid of the chef and get someone else in urgently before they lose too much business because id hate it to close being the only curry house in Machynlleth. I hope this review helps them rather than hinders, if the owner reads this please take it as constructive criticism

I feel bad for making this review as the owner was actually a nice man…. But I have to warn anyone who thinks about trying this place. I have also taken many photos for this review. However, Google is not allowing to upload photos for this specific place. Let me start with… The food is not freshly prepared. It was steaming hot to the point where we couldn’t touch if for a long time (Microwaved). Lamb was like rubber because again (Microwaved). Pompadoms were basically plastic. Rice was microwaved. To be completely frank. The food was VILE. The toilets were just as vile. I don’t think opening the doors to a filled black bin bag with holes and dirty pipes with nails sticking out everywhere is a good look. I honestly can’t believe this place has been allowed to keep open. Don’t try this place guys… please don’t do it.

I was apprehensive about here due to the number of negative reviews however, Shilam was a treat and the curry was delicious. Not a lot of meat but not so little it is worth being upset over, hence the 4 stars. The waiter was amazingly attentive and our food came quickly.I got the lamb madras which was hotter than I thought (in a good way), rich and the lamb was lovely and tender. My partner got the chicken balti which was also lovely however the chicken was a little tough and the plate arrived with some fluff/hair? On the side but nothing near the food so again no complaints. The naan was great and you could taste the coconut in this one!All in all, far better than I anticipated and definitely worth a visit. I have lived in Cardiff in the last 4 years and Shilam could easily compete there! All of the issues would probably be resolved by having more staff however everywhere around here is suffering staff shortages so in terms of wait times during peak, set your expectations.8/10 will definitely recommend to friends staying in the area.

Missing main, when it arrived it had about £3 worth of food in the pot instead of the £15 it cost. Will not return.Photo shows poor portion and missing bread and salad in tandoori special.

So after reading a lot of mixed reviews about this place I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. Honestly, it's just not great food. Don't know what some of these 5 star reviews are talking about because everything is clearly not fresh and just reheated. The portions are stingy and the naan I had was borderline stale. There's not much in the way of food in Machynlleth unfortunately and this place doesn't change things.

I was visiting corris and looked for nearby halal places to eat but there is nothing halal about the money they make scamming people out of their terrible quality of food!!! They served naans that were microwaved and went from being somewhat edible to rock solid within a minute of being served. It would have been easier to break rocks with my teeth than eat them. Massive chunks of whole onion cut into the curries - I understand they are owned by bangledeshis but they do not cook curries like that. They know not many south asians will visit (I'm brown) due to the demographics, and most non-brown/south asians won't know what a good curry is so basically serve shambolic food. AVOID whatever color of skin/culture you are - if you think you're having a good curry, you need to reseason those tastebuds and go elsewhere to get a better comparison.

The food here is very typically British version of 'Indian' so you'll know what to expect. It's all made pretty well and the server on the night we were in was very personable- he even put on Asian music to replace the British Rock that was on when we arrived. Lighting is bright and quite glaring. All that said I'd be happy to go back for a Ruby!

What a treasure, my brother suggested this place for our last dinner on our Welsh holiday and I couldn't imagine a better place to finish it.The food is amazing, tasty, and fast. The kind of Indian that's spicy but not hot. You can taste the care cooked in it.The staff are friendly and patient when you have questions.Highly recommend getting the poppadoms and pickle tray as a pre starter!!
