Totally impressed with the service we received at James Hawes. They were so kind and understanding, and totally professional. They took such great care of our wonderful Dad. A totally genuine Company.

After losing two of the most important people in my life within 2 years, it has taken me a while to be able to write a review. I lost my beautiful, incredible Nan during covid times, I was devastated. After not being able to see her in hospital for 9 weeks prior, I was also too scared to see her in the chapel as she had covid and I had a newborn baby at home, we just didn’t know if it was something that would affect babies at that time and I just knew my Nan would never have wanted me to risk this in a million years, for her or anyone else. There was things I wanted to say to her but couldn’t because of this. I spoke to the lovely Dawn here and she relayed all of these things I wanted to say to my Nan to her for me. The way she handled everything was so delicate and I can honestly say she helped me to receive the closure I wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise. 2 years later, almost to the exact same day we also lost my wonderful grandad. Although things were different and there was no covid to worry about, I didn’t feel I was able to see him. But once again, Dawn stepped in and told him the things I wanted to say, gave him some items we all wanted him to have and even read him a newspaper because I asked her too. One thing I loved that was that when we was discussing the funeral arrangements, Dawn never referred to it as “grandads funeral” etc, she called it “his final journey” and this wording that she used just gave me such a wonderful feeling and piece of closure that I cannot describe.Nothing was too much trouble, it’s never a nice thing or somewhere you want to have to go, but your loved ones are treated with the upmost respect and dignity here and it’s something I will be eternally grateful for them to providing to us at a difficult time (twice over!). Both times the funerals were organised impeccably and the exact tributes we wanted for both my Nan and grandad. From a family who suffered horrendously at the hands of covid and not being able to say goodbye because of the stupid pointless rules that were enforced on us, being able to give them both the send off they deserved, together was something we desperately needed to do and the whole team at James Hawes Romford provided us with a service that meant we was able to finally grieve properly, we can’t put into words how grateful we are for that and how much it means to us as a family. Thank you, again.

I am posting this a year after we used Hawes as a result of the sudden passing of our dear ma. Unfamiliar with this new, sad landscape we now found ourselves in, we relied on the recommendation of a friend. The word 'fantastic' may feel incongruous given the circumstance, but our ma received the most glorious day as befitted her glorious life, and we, meanwhile, received honesty, professionalism, great attention to care and detail, as well as genuine warmth.Thank you, Dawn, and the rest of your team for taking great care of us all, and apologies for the delayed review.

Wonderful care taken with my daughter, she looked beautiful and so peaceful.The respect given by the softly spoken staff was appreciated. Utterly professional directors.

We can not thank everyone at James Hawes enough for their support, compassion and respect in conducting my dear Aunts funeral. They made my Uncle feel so comforted with the care shown for her and consideration afforded to him and other family members. Their perfect services made an overwhelming occasion into a beautiful day full of loving memories.

The first impression I got walking in for the first time was it needed decorating.The first person I spoke to was Dawn Smith, she is extremely professional, knowledgeable and compassionate, once going through what we wanted, she completely took over & organised absolutely everything. The day of the funeral went like clockwork, timing was precise. We had horse & carriage for our dad, it was absolutely beautiful. Dave and Lee in particular were very helpful to the family. Dave was helping me with my confidence as I was saying the eulogy. Thanks Dave I done good. They have contacted us after funeral to see how we are, sent mum a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and made her a Plaque with dad's name on for the garden. They were gifts. They went above and beyond with the service they provided. From the minute they collected my dad after passing to him being laid to rest their services was exceptional. So from me Tracey, mum, billie & Kerry we thank you from the bottom of our hearts..X

It was very sad to have to use their services again so soon, after having taken good care of my mothers funeral only a couple of years back. It was good to know this time who to contact straight away. I contacted Dawn and Bob, who remembered me from before . This made things much easier for me at a very sad time. They took care of our every need, with empathy and care, and truly looked after us and our loved one right up to his burial.Even as far as checking in on me the days that followed, to see how I was coping.I cannot recommend their services enough, professional and personal in every way.Once again thank you Bob, Dawn and the staff that took part on the day. When I lost my dear dad I was distraught beyond belief, I was going to use a different funeral directors the same one as I did my mum but being disabled I could not get up the steps but then that led me to use james hawes which I am so glad that I did they was very accommodating being on a scooter they made me feel at ease from sitting with Dawn to arrange the funeral to when the cars pulled up they assisted to get scooter on board and bob well I cannot thank him enough he and his team escorted my dad with such honour and respect, the service was conducted lovely and for such a sad occasion it was beautiful. Thankyou guys your the best and I have instructed my children when it's my turn to come to yous xAlso for such a lovely service that yous provide your very reasonably priced x
