Ryton Golf Club
Lovely course meandering along the bank of the Tyne. Very fair test for any golfer and a challenge for better players - pars at 2, 8 and 12 will be rare. Stunning clubhouse too. Well worth a visit.

A tricky first few holes with out of bounds all down the right. Birdies are get-able from there on out playing into very receptive greens. Well worth the 20 min ish drive from Newcastle. Will be coming again soon.

Played here the last two Saturdays on winter greens then normal greens. Course is in good condition considering the weather we had a few weeks ago, it’s a little damp in places still but nothing to complain about. Two good rounds and the members we spoke to were helpful and friendly.

The course on sunday 21st may was cracking, however there was a comp on and two 4balls in front held up play to the extreme. After taking 2.7hrs to get to the 12th i rang the clubhouse to ask if there were marshalls on the course checking the pace of play and was told no. 2 holes on and near the clubhouse we were met with a marshall who said the course was busy and letting 2 balls through would not help. He was a lovely guy but not much help. 4 hrs 10 mins for a round of golf is a bit much. Avoid unless youve got all day to sunbathe and plenty if fluids

A very difficult course with a mix of tight short holes and some very long par 4’s. Course was in good condition and we received a friendly welcome. The downside is a lot of the holes cross one another and it feels quite dangerous. Worth a visit to see for yourself.

A tight course but enjoyable. Greens were getting attention after the wet winter but should be back to a good condition early May. Enjoyed my day, members were pleasant

Played an open. I could not believe how few people were on the course! Virtually had it to ourselves. The weather was good. It was winter golf on a parkland course, so, yes it was a bit ‘muddy’ as expected. Had to use mats on the fairways. Greens were faster than they looked and reasonably true. Some holes were a bit ‘same’y, otherwise it was quite a decent course. Lovely clubhouse as well.UPDATE: Newcastle were in the League cup final at Wembley, maybe that’s why it was almost deserted!

Played in a Seniors Open (10 April 2023) with 5 pairs. Course was in decent condition for the wet time of year. Clubhouse food and drinks reasonably priced and of a good standard. Would we go back, yes.
