Barchester - Awel-Y-Mor Care Centre

After having to return to Awel-Y-Mor for 2 weeks due to my care agency failing me at Christmas, there's only a few words that I can use that can describe this magnificent care home, and they are: miraculous, dedicated, friendly and special! From the moment I entered the building I was greeted warmly, and that was the theme throughout the duration of my stay. Every single staff member was an absolute joy to speak to, was patient, friendly and absolutely wonderful! Due to my spinal injury I require different routines to many of the residents, but the staff were well versed in the situation, and even some that were unfamiliar with me, a couple of minutes on how best to help look after me was all it took for them to understand and make me feel like I was at home! They are the absolute jewel in the crown of the UK care industry! From the carers, to the nurses, the cooks, the cleaners, the therapists, the maintenance men, the office staff and managers, every single member of staff, you will not find another place where everyone was so warm, friendly, caring, nothing was too much for them to the point where I felt compelled to write to one of the deputy staff members saying how immensely grateful I am to everyone, and that I really did feel like a VIP! what is even more special is the support they give to each other! Even during these incredibly difficult times of this covid pandemic, with staff isolations and testing positive etc, I have never seen a workforce of people in a job more supportive and together then here! They will do their upmost and beyond to make sure that we, the residents, are safe, fed and well looked after, no matter what the numbers of staff on duty due to these crazy pandemic times! It is clear to see how much they really care about us, and I felt completely safe there despite covid numbers in Wales rising! I could continue like this and talk about every single member of staff but I would be here for a week writing :D and I am so so proud of the Welsh care sector to see so many people from all over the world, from the Philippines, to China, Romania, Poland, Thailand and more, all working in Awel-Y-Mor and is like 1 big global family that all pull together to give an absolutely incredible experience to as real a home life as possible, and I cannot thank them enough for everything they've done for me!If Barchester hold award ceremonies throughout their company like many companies do, save your money this year and just hand them all over to the Awel-Y-Mor staff, because you won't find a more incredible bunch of people working together like this on the planet!From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you, to every single one of you!!

It's a good place

What a fantastic home. The care delivery is second to none. Could not wish for a better place! Coffee mornings on a friday are a considerable perk!
