The Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa

We always come here for a break. It’s our favourite hotel, perfect if you want to ‘restore your batteries” The staff are so attentive, I think this quality of hotel with the service it offers is becoming quite a rare find. If you get served by Martin in the lounge area, he will brighten your day with his kindness and warmth and good humour.

One of, if not THE best dining experiences of the year.Food was faultless, staff and service impeccable (Thank you Dylan) its as simple as that. Great food, cooked beautifully and served by folk that actually care and add to the experience.Highly recommended. We will be back, that's for sure.

We sadly were so looking forward to an anniversary break and when we left we were so disappointed. We booked room 52 a Gainsborough room for that little bit of extra luxury and was told it overlooked the gardens. What a joke it just looked onto buildings and tradesman’s back entrance and drains. The bathroom was spotless but the bedroom was a shambles. The bed had more slopes and raised sections than I have ever encountered in any hotel on our travels. There were some really filthy marks on the carpet. One of the windows had cobwebs that had been there for months, another window was broken and would not close. The curtains were so old that actually had disintegrated and hung in strips. There was a massive fan left in the room a free standing heater which was unnecessary as a perfectly good air con unit was fitted. The furniture was in need of replacement.I feel the room was such a disgrace we should be refunded the cost of the accommodation. However on a brighter note the staff were fantastic throughout. Chef excellent and good presentation of menus. It was our 63rd wedding anniversary and we were so disappointed.Please don’t say the room was due for an upgrade. It should never have been let at all.

Fabulous experience. Staff were so pleasant, welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. Truly, nothing appeared too much for them. Spa was wonderfully relaxing and staff there just lovely too. Such a relaxed stay, nobody rushed you and I felt the stress fall away from me!

Lovely hotel, characterful and friendly with good breakfast. We stayed for a weekend and also used the spa. Initially we were in Room 36, whilst this was a beautiful room the noise from the bar below, a large fan somewhere and the street was too much for me. The staff were very understanding and moved us to a quieter room at the rear of the hotel. There are lovely spaces inside and out to relax and read, chat and have a drink. Easy to socialise or be on your own which was nice. Location was wonderful, parking was easy and we had a great stay. Would recommend and we will definitely be back. Would say this hotel is good for couples but not for those with mobility issues as lots of steps and showers are over the baths.

Fabulous hotel, with good secure parking. Comfortable night’s sleep. Great menu. Attentive staff. Very busy at breakfast but quieter in the evening. Luxury toiletries. Thermal spa pool is outside, seats about 6 people, lovely and warm and amazing to sit in even on a rainy day. Hotel architecture is amazing and the town is full of old world buildings. Guildhall museum, National Trust, is worth a visit as is the local church. Would definitely recommend.

Great old but tastefully modernized building. Excellent service by very polite staff. We were able to park outside to unload our stuff the use the car park. Very pleased to be able to bring our dog who was welcomed with treats. She was also able to use the hotel garden.Restaurant lovely with great service and great food. Good choice for evening meal and breakfast.We thoroughly enjoyed having a walk around Lavenham in the morning, with plenty of places to choose from (dog friendly) for lunch. Did a guided tour in the afternoon from the guildhall. ExcellentThoroughly enjoyed our one night stay.

I was celebrating a biggish birthday yesterday & three friends came to celebrate with me. I chose the afternoon tea created by Andrew Smyth & it was delicious. They chose to have a lunch. There were a couple of issues which were sorted out smoothly & immediately.The building is amazing & atmosphere in the restaurant was very serene with classical music playing quietly in the background. It was a very enjoyable couple of hours spent.

Visited for afternoon tea and had a great time. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. The afternoon tea was delicious, with a superb choice of teas and perfect fresh sandwiches, scones and cakes. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Save space for the carrot cake!
