The Lovat Hotel & Restaurant
Station Road Restaurant was an incredible experience. The tasting menu was delicious and paid incredible attention to every small detail - it really showed off the amazing ingredients that Scotland has to offer. The staff was excellent as well - the service made us feel like we were the only people at the restaurant! We left full and incredibly satisfied.The location is an easy walk if you are staying elsewhere in town, like we were. This dining experience is a must, unlike anything else we had while traveling around the Highlands.

Restaurant Only: We had the tasting menu for a special occasion for six and it was absolutely superb. As another reviewer said, this is the gold standard of degustation for us. Every dish was full of fascinating flavours, local ingredients and was impeccably presented. The service was faultless and friendly with all staff knowledgeable and focused on us.It is very expensive but will stay long in our memories.

The Lovat Hotel & Restaurant
The Lovat gave us a warm welcome and we instantly felt at home. Situated close to the Loch and canal gave us the opportunity to walk and appreciate our beautiful surroundings. Our room was bright and the amazingly comfortable bed was elevated so we could see the hills with our morning tea! We now come to the tasting menu. The tastes and textures of the menu was outstanding, we thank the chef for such an imaginative menu. The pairing drinks were not just from an excellent wine list. The drink pairings included a beer, a vermouth and they matched perfectly with the food. This is now the gold standard of tasting menus for us. All the staff were engaging, knowledgeable and a delight. We thank The Lovat for their care and attention.

We enjoyed our stay here. Fort Augustus is a cute little town and the Lovat is in the midst of it all. The staff recommended a stunning hike to ‘The Falls’ to us. We thoroughly enjoyed same. The food was pretty good as well. A nice place to stay if you are in the neighbourhood.

The Lovat Hotel & Restaurant
We loved our stay at The Lovat Hotel. It is such a beautiful location, and the hotel felt more like a home, with its warmly decorated guest areas and spacious, well-appointed rooms. Each morning, I'd take my tea downstairs to enjoy the sun coming up through the large picture window. It felt cozy, like being in a lovely country home of good friends. The staff were incredible! So accommodating and professional. We had tasty breakfasts each morning in the dining room and couldn't be happier. The food was delicious, and I loved that they offered kombucha as an alternative to juice. The porridge with the berry compote was my favorite. On our final evening, we had a special dinner hosted by our hiking tour group. It was a delicious meal, and the presentation was beautiful. We ended our day with a dram of whisky each night, relaxing by the fireplace. It was indeed one of my best vacations, and the staff at The Lovat made it extra special.

I wish I could leave The Lovat more stars. We visited in mid-May of 2023. The staff was beyond amazing, the room amazing, the grounds and local area was wonderful. The hotel itself is gorgeous. We had a large room in the front of the hotel. They were working on some plumbing issues while we were there, but as with any building of it’s age, there will always be something to work on.Every member of the staff was genuinely friendly and through some combination of super powers, a time turner, and possibly secret passages one of the owners was everywhere she was needed. One of the most amazing women I have ever encountered. She works within the team of staff members to create a most amazing experience for all the guests.I have seen in previous reviews complaints that would have been corrected in a matter of minutes if only mentioned to the staff or never been an issue if the travelers had done a bit of research beforehand.The gluten free breakfast options were a relief after a long vacation of iffy meal choices. We also had reservations for one of the two tasting menu options. This is a quite expensive option that I would save for those true foodies with a quite refined palette and for the most special of occasions. Reservations need to be made with at least 24 hours advance notice.The gluten free options in town were limited, so making reservations for breakfast and dinner are highly recommended.

The Lovat Hotel & Restaurant
Stayed here as part of walking the Great Glen Way. We were in one of the garden rooms, which is separate to the hotel. The room was very comfortable, with a lovely selection of tea, coffee etc. Really appreciated the attention and kindness from staff as my friend was unwell and they were able to get us into our room earlier than they normally would have been able to. The restaurant is fantastic - I would happily have had the bannock for each course…would definitely stay and eat here again.
