We had a beautiful day yesterday. The weather was glorious and the beaches were practically empty (although it was whilst the kiddies are at school). Lovely stroll along the promenade and an awesome lunch at The Wave. We stayed until sunset and captured some amazing photos. There was ample free parking along the parade, but if not there is a pay & display car park. The Wave cafe/restaurant is highly recommended. Food was lovely and staff are friendly. There is another bar/restaurant opposite, but we didn't try that one. Also, when the tide is out there is a huge rock pool for the little ones to explore. So check the tide times to be able to do this. However, now for the bad comments. Be prepared for the awful smell of seaweed. The smell can be very, very strong and smells like manure. It can be very off putting. When the tide is out make sure you be careful of the stranded jellyfish left on the beach. The other problem is there could have been more toilets, as there are only a couple of places with portaloo's (which were clean), but some of them were locked, leaving only one at each end of the promenade, apart from in the cafe and bar I presume.

Visited Sept 2023 and whilst the beach was quiet as usual which is perfect. The shingle on the sand and the extreme sulphate smell was quite off putting. The water was quite merky too which isn’t at all how I remember it from our 2019 visit. They said the soft scoop ice cream price was unbelievably cheap and tasted amazing!!3 out of 5 for the beach itself due to the smell and 5 out of 5 for ice cream!!
