Uplands Rehabilitation Centre

I have recently returned home from Uplands after my second stay there in four months. I was recuperating after two hip replacements and went to the centre so that I didn’t have to go straight home from hospital on my own.It is difficult to know where to start… from my first telephone enquiry , I felt valued and cared for. Organising my first stay was so easy and efficient and I could relax knowing everything was in place for after my operation. From the moment I arrived I felt safe and secure. The amazing staff settled me in, making sure I was comfortable and cared for. Every aspect of my care was discussed - medication, what I could and couldn’t do and how the team would help me during my time with them. Every member of the team was kind and nothing was too much trouble. After a couple of days, I started daily physio sessions, with the amazing physiotherapists, who are knowledgable and skilled in moving everyone they work with , forward on their recovery journey. After three weeks I went home, confident I could cope and very aware of what I was capable of.Four months later I had my second hip replacement and went back to Uplands for a further two weeks. Again, from the moment I went into the centre, it felt like coming home. After more physio, lovely food and the kind and positive attitude of everyone at the centre, I am home and doing things I never dreamed I would.Uplands is a truly unique place. The staff care for such a diverse group of patients and they all do so with compassion, care and an understanding of how vulnerable people can feel in these situations.There is always laughter, even in the most stressful times. The people who work at Uplands are such special people. Thank you all so much for everything.

Staff shortages let it down at weekend s rest of the time staffamaZing. Food top notch part of th healing process. Physio brilliant.i wa paralyzed and couldn't move left leg. They got it working after stroke. Now can walk

Just spent 6weeks at this rehabilitation centre , and can't praise them enough, always asking about your welfare, food very good, My room was comfortable, clean, well decorated. If you get the chance to use the physio, team please inbrace it, yes at times it may be a painful, but my phlosfey is no pain, no gain. They now what there doing. If you stay there for a time, always a nurse on call as well as auxiliary staff. Among other exercises I used the bike, started at 3minutes at the beginning ended up doing 16 min. And counting. Cleaning every day, up stairs and down.
