Locksters Pool camping & Glamping

First camping and kayaking trip and it was perfect. Friendly, helpful hosts, clean facilities, quiet and plenty of room on the plot. The views are stunning with easy access to the river. Short trip upstream to the local pub with access from the river. A day out down stream surrounded by nature and a friendly local taxi back to base. Couldn't ask for more really, highly recommended.

I had such a great experience at Locksters Pool camping! Yvonne was very welcoming and helpful and took really good care of me after a long journey on my motorbike. She made me feel like I was staying in a five star hotel rather than at the campsite. The location is absolutely beautiful, very remote and quiet. Pitches are large and clearly marked. It's all planned in a way that everyone has an unobstructed view of the river. The amenities are basic but clean and tidy. In the morning Yvonne cooked breakfast for me and it was a massive feast with unlimited toast and coffee refills. I will surely be back. I highly recommend this campsite!!!

We camped for two nights in the Dragonfly Walk & it was perfect. Hosts were fab, really helpful & attentive and left logs for the fire whilst we were out. Beautiful location and site was close to Hay and everything we could need. Wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Wow, what a great few days of camping that was. It's a perfect location to camp and to go canoeing. Rustic, rural, and just perfect for my Grandsons 1st camping adventure. Thank you so much, too, Yvonne and Richard.

Great camping on the river wye. Yvonne the host was so helpful and accomdating. I loved the firepits at each pitch. Able to launch kayak from site. Basic facilities on site, toilet, shower and wash up area but enough for us. Working farm. X

Beautiful location and fantastic pitches. Yvonne greeted us even though we arrived late at night, she gave us a lift to the most amazing secluded pitch and left us too it. On the morning we had the breakfast, what. Breakfast!!!! Yvonne had set the table for the two of us with coffee orange juice, amazing jams and preserves. I cannot recommend the breakfast enough!!! Thank you

We hired the top field for exclusive use as we were a group of 17. Yvonne and Richard were helpful, friendly and funny. The view is gorgeous and we really enjoyed paddling up river to the pub.for a few hours.A really lovely venue and we will definitely be coming back.

After two visits myself and my group of friends have decided to look elsewhere. Both times we have visited the owners have been really difficult to deal with and not at all welcoming. Yvonne asked “trap” questions and then put the boot in when I didn’t know the answer and is obsessed with people reading the rules on the website. Yes we made some mistakes re bringing our own wood but their handling of it was awful. Overall I felt bullied and totally unwelcome. She came and woke me up on our last day saying I shouldn’t be there and threatened to let the sheep in the field. After checking her texts she realized she had made an error but still no apology. The site is stunning but the river condition has deteriorated a lot in the last year. Run-off from chicken farms up river is killing the ecosystem and I was sick after swimming. If you’re thick-skinned and/or enjoy being bullied then this is your place. Other reviews saying similar really ring true. Please learn how to deal with people or hire someone who can.

Just back from here such a fantastic location a real gem. The pitches are spacious with fire trivet which is brilliant. The river access is a bonus too, lovely walk about the farm to the old railway and ancient Oak tree. Portaloos clean and very usable, didn’t get to use the showers but then why when camping for one night? Hosts helpful, approachable and full of great chat. Thanks Yvonne and Richard, hopefully be back soon.
