We were offered an oven by IOSS that was surplus to their requirements. The price was good so we agreed to buy it. The oven arrived, in February, but we didn't start to use it till June. It performed relatively well, but when the door was opened the fans blew the hot air straight out the door, which wasn't very pleasant for the operators. We also found we were getting a build up of fumes in the oven. However, we hadn't specked the oven so we can't complain about this.We noticed that after a few months the inside of the door panel was coming loose. We decided to ask IOSS to fit an extraction fan to help extract the fumes, a switch to stop the fan blowing when the door opened and repair the door. They duly did this, the switch and extraction fan worked well.Now a year on, several parts have fallen off inside the oven as the rivets holding them in place have sheared off. This includes the protective cover for the fan blades, a plate on the back wall of the oven and some more have sheared in the door. When we asked IOSS to sort these out they said it was normal wear and tear and we had to pay for an engineers visit. I might accept that the door is wear and tear, as it is opened and closed a lot per day, but the fan cover and back panel are not touched. The fan cover could have injured one of our staff when it fell, so we were lucky.In our opinion the rivets they have used are not strong enough. We have been in business for 20 years, we have 11 ovens across our two sites, and we have never seen this happen on the other ovens. We did replace the inside door panel on one other oven last year, but that was bought in 1999.IOSS insinuated that we were lying about the rivets, and that we did not operate a safe environment for our staff. That seemed an outrageous comment to make. Certainly when we have been audited by our customers, including leading super-car manufacturers and F1 teams, they have never raised similar views. In fact the lady who made this comment has never visited our Luton factory.The oven would be fine if the interior rivets were stronger. I would have expected some form of dialogue or compromise to sort out our issue. They made up their minds before even seeing the oven that we had damaged it, even though they had already fixed the same issue on the doors six months earlier.I will not use IOSS again, and would recommend others to contact Hedinair or Airflow instead.
